fuse related to radiator fan?
hey i have a 86 305 tpi camaro with a single electric fan. Now, the other day i installed my power antenna and i blew a fuse. so i covered the fuse with aluminum foil until i can get a new one. when i was installing, sometimes the wires would spark with the chassis, by accident when i was moving around in there. Now, my question is:
does that fuse which is a 30 i believe, its the one for the radio, have anything to do with my radiator fan. because 2 days after succesful installation of my power antenna, my radiator fan won't turn on. my car reached 250* on thursday and all i could do is let it sit. the antifreeze was boiling. the fan did not turn on.
i tried to mess with the ac controls to see if the fan would turn on, no luck. today it was raining so, i lifted the hood and started to warm the car up. when it reached about 180, i could see the radiator giving off steam on the left and right sides near the top.
i was thinking, it could be the thermostat. or a bad relay for the fan. or maybe my radiator broke. please someone help.
its been 2days i havent been able to drive this car for more than 15 minutes.

If you you pull the wire on the p/s of the engine that goes to fan switch and ground it the fan should come on. If the fan comes on you probably have a bad fan switch. If it doesn't come on, electric fan motor might be bad. I think you can also ground the wire at the fan relay and the fane should come on also. Hope that helps some.

i'm not afraid to mess with wires, i'd just like ot know how i could 'ground' it. i bet its probably really easy.

The fan switch screws into the engine block on the p/s between the 7 and 8 spark plugs. Just pull the wire and touch it to a ground and the fan should come on. I think you also have to have the key turned to the on position. You don't have to actually start the car. Not an expert on this, but someone on this board helped me this way.

Yes, have the key in the "Key On ..Engine Off" position. Pull the connector off the fan switch and ground it. If the fan runs, your problem will most likely be the switch. If it doesn't run, then check the fan relay. You can also check the fan motor by jumpering terminals "A" & "B" of the ALDL with the key in the "ON" position. There is also a fuse for the fan in the fuse block.
