Which switch are you referring to? The dimmer switch or the ignition switch that is located on the steering column. Do you have a location of it & a picture? What year & model car is it?

That aint a factory switch, so it's impossible to tell you what it might be for. Where do the wires go? It could be a ghetto tq lockup switch, it could be for an alarm, it could be for an 800 hp shot of nitrous...

The only thing that would normally be in close proximity to that area is the ALDL and the convenience center. You can tell by looking at the three holes drilled in the dash that something else was added there and removed at some point in time. Have you tried pushing the switch to see what might happen?

I have one on my bird. The guy who had it before put in a manual switch for the cooling fans. If I flip it, it will keep the fans on all the time. Maybe the same on yours ?
