kill switch idea?
This idea popped into my had layin in bed last night, but i dunno if its even feasable or not.. so here it goes..
my car had the ac removed, but there is still the ac option on the hvac controls.. so i was thinkin.
is there a way for me to wire into the ac switch, so that if i have the switch set to ac it will break the signal to the clutch safety switch? thus not allowing the car to start until i move the switch to something other than ac.

Not very easily. If you wired a relay to the A/C compressor power, and used the N.C. contacts of the relay to interrupt the start circuit, the relay would prevent starter operation when the power was on. However, since the A/C is an accessory, and the ignition switch effectively "kills" all the accesories during cranking, the circuit would be ineffective.
You could, however, do a similar relay installation using the brake lights and the N.O. contacts of the relay. That would require application of the brake and clutch to crank the engine. Fords used a system like this on several automatic vehicles in the '90s. I'm not sure if they did it on manual trans vehicles though.

hmm.. so much for my hidden kill switch idea.. i forgot that power is cut to accessories while starting..
and the problem with the ford design is the a lot of people put their foot on the brake anyways while starting a car, so it basically makes having a kill switch there totally ineffective.
oh well, i'm sure some other idea will pop into my head.
thanks for the answer.

Mine's wired to my cig Lighter. Push the lighter in and start the car.... It's gonna suck if I lose the lighter though!

so put battery hot (with a fuse of course) to the A/C relay instead of ACC power. and perhaps change so that the AC needs to be on to start, that way when you get out of the car you don't need to remember to flip it to ac, but you do need to remember to start the car. neat idea

If you ever need to leave your car to where someone might steal it, just take the fuel pump relay out.

or unplug it just enough where there is no connection, but it still appears plugged in.
i remove my coil wire if i am leaving my car in an undisirable place. i like the fuel pump idea though.

A 12 ga. Mossberg with bean bags is a good deterrent. Just don't point it at your car, since it will leave a really nice dent, or quickly "distemper" your window glass. It must be O.K. The Vice President can do it just while out having some fun. I'm sure you'd at least be semi-serious.
