Trans Am Fog Lights don't work

I got a 85 T/A with new fog lamps installed and I don't have any power getting to them. Is there a relay somewhere for these?

I'd make sure that ground is on there pretty good. My ground was on the back of the fog light itself. Those things are touchy. Probably not your problem, but that is only a suggestion.

Re: Trans Am Fog Lights don't work

The relay is on the drivers side just under the hood hinge. There is a green, red, purple and brown-white wires going to it.
Purple = Output to Lamps
Green = Ground
Brown-White = Input Trigger From Switch
Red = 12Volts Constant
The red is from a fusible link (G). Test all with a voltmeter and verify their functions.
I also have a little trick for making them stay on when the high beams are on.
The Green is Ground for the relay. It taps directly into the High-Beam 12V wire. When the High-Beams are OFF, this wire rest at ground. A relay only needs a low current to activate and let it function. So this provides your Fog Lamp relay with a ground. When you click ON the High Beams, the Fog relay ground goes away and turns off the Fogs.
Simply clip the Green wire near the relay about 2 inches from the relay. The part still attached to the relay, put a ring terminal on it and ground it....you can use the relay mounting screw. Cap off the Green wire that is going into the wire loom so that your High dont short.
Now you can Fog and Hi Beam it ! =)

I redid mine with yellow fog-lights from Canadian Tire. They were 39.95 and had a yellow lens.. Look so cool at night.. Off topic, I know.. But I went through this after I installed mine, But did you clean the contacts on the wiring harness to the fog-lights, from the car?

Quick way to test if it's the relay, jumper the red and purple wire at the relay connector (without the relay connected). If the foglights turn on, it's the relay or switch (and connections). If they don't turn on, check your power source, and the wires to the lights.

Re: Trans Am Fog Lights don't work

When the wife brings the car home I will get to work on it. That is good to know that they have a separate relay than the headlights and parking lights.

It was the relay. Thanks. I jumped those 2 wires and they worked.

Re: Trans Am Fog Lights don't work

Well make sure it's not the switch too, check the switch wires with a multimeter.

If it is the relay, tell me where you got yours since I need a new one too lol

Re: Trans Am Fog Lights don't work

I picked up the relay at Advance Auto for $12.00. It is actually called a fog lamp relay on their computer. They work fine now.
