Gauge problems driving me insane

OK so after i got my speakers installed, my gauges keep doing weird things.

1. My left turn signal light stays lit and my hi beam indicator turns on, even when my headlamps are off.

2. The fuel gauge drops to 1/4 tank or so when its full,

3. The oil pressure gauge just dies and goes up to right below the red line.

4. The battery then says its charging at 8 volts, but when we used a vat40 it was running at about 14 volts, normal.

5. The tachometer goes insane, moving very fast back and forth between 0 and 7000.

Now the "FIX":

When i push on the cluster just right, or down on the dash pad the gauges jump back to the correct place, if my lights are on my LED's get bright again and the tach chills out. But if i let the dash go its back to the crazy gauges, I figured it was my speaker laying on the cluster, so i spaced it up off of the cluster and it was good for a few days but this is really annoying.

ideas? Is it my speakers screwing with my LEDs? (i did the gauges by hand like the tech article) or are the LEDs just being retarded? I remember when i was installing the cluster after i did up the gauges the hi beam/signal thing happened but it was just the position i had the cluster in

any ideas???????

I think you need to reseat the cluster back into the dash properly. It sounds like the flex circuit board is not making a good connection with the connector on the dash side of the cluster.

Re: Gauge problems driving me insane

well i gave it a good punch a few minutes ago cuz i was kinda pissed after work so i nailed it and then all my LEDs went black, flipped me out but when i rotated the dimmer switch they came back on and i havent had an issue yet, im hoping that the hit helped to seat it cuz i did hit it on the side where the connector is lol

You might also check/tighten the 10 mm nuts at the bottom of the cluster to make sure the cluster stays in place.

seems to be a likely cause, living on a dirt washboard road kinda shakes things up and lossens them, i had my ecm and hush panel drop yesterday so i wouldnt be suprised, just gotta make the time to find all the possibilities

Sell your car immediately or you will go to lock-up: Driving a Camaro/Bird on dirt or gravel, especially with washboards is forbidden by law .

Five years for 'getting on it' on dirt, gravel, and washboard.
