Rplace the doore lock switches and the lock motors in the doors. Parts are relativly cheap.

Clean with WD-40, then lube with white grease--do the window tracks while you're at it. The following link may suggest some other fixes while you're in the door panel:

Are new door lock switches still available through GM?

He means clean the lock and latch mechanism. If your door key doesn't turn freely then the electric lock mechanism is going to have the same resistance to unlocking the doors. New power locks, in most cases, won't solve the problem-provided, of course, that the current ones are working-at least 'trying' to lock/unlock.

Yep, WD40 worked great on mine. I wasn't really able to get in there to apply any grease. It was pretty difficult just getting the WD40 straw in there. But, I was able to bend it around to get all the moving parts of the linkage.

Re: Fixing the locks

How would you know wether or not you just need to clean/lube the tracks up or replace the switches and motors? My driver's side doesn't work at all most of the time, but occasionally they will "try" to lock, but won't do anything. The passenger side always "tries" to lock, but doesn't do anything. You can hear it trying to lock, but it fails. So should I just take the door panels off, clean the tracks and lube them up?

Re: Fixing the locks

There are no 'tracks' for the door locks. The actuator is connected to the latch by a rod.

You can try to clean the latch without removing it by spraying with WD40 but I've always had better luck removing the latch and soaking it in a parts cleaner.

Yes. Given the symptoms, it sounds like your car is a prime candidate for a thorough cleaning.
