Have you followed the wires to see where they go? Likely an aftermarket stereo or amplifier. Fuses are designed to protect your equipment and prevent fires in case of a short circuit.

Is it a fairly thin red wire? $100 says it runs to that amp.

I have this also, they are about 1/8" thick. This is for a stereo hookup for the amp. My radio works without this hooked up, so I figure it went to the amp and speaker the PO had in. It has a little housing it goes into, fuse is most likely a 30amp right? I have to agree, this is most likely speaker wire. Mine runs through the passenger fender with all the other wires making it some what confusing at first. I plan to remove all this extra wire when I do my new floor pans, carpet and seats.

Like the guys said, you'll need to follow the wire to its destination. If it's powering that amp, there's a chance that the amp is blown or miswired.

When you put a fuse in and it blows, whatever is connected to the end of the wire is bad. Or the wire is touching ground somewhere. That you will have to find yourself.
