Hey guys, I put a 350 in my jeep Tj and I'm working on wiring the alternator. i had a TPi setup so the alternator I got was a 3 wire alt Auto zone Part# 1367-6-11. I found a plug (has four prongs with 3 wires. I'm trying to figure out how to wire it. I know the red wire goes to the batt term. then to the battery. And the other wire is for volt meter. But the last wire is suppose to have a resistance in it. So i put a 1watt 100 ohm 5% resistor in the line and ran it to the start/run wires. Not working. Any ideas?

 

i got the same problem here.

i wil try a 270 Ohm 1 watt resistor for the inline or a 4 watt bulb.

do you have fix your problem now??

470 ohm resistor or 194 light bulb... That's the way the system was designed.

i got here also a 500 Ohm 2 watt can i use it?

194 is a type of bulb, think turn signals

Go to radioshack and get a pack 470ohm resistors. I use 1/2 watt resistors, PN 271-1115

Either use a resistor or install a light bulb

 

do you now how much resistance the light bulb hase
i was try to check the resistance on the light bulb but that is no 470 Ohm

it was a 194 light bulb

 

You can't check the resistance on an unlit light bulb. The bulb's resistance goes up exponentially (in other words, a LOT) when lit because the heat generated by the filament increases its own resistance.
