cruise control wires

o.k. After a day of searching i have come to the conclusion that the wires i have in question are from the cruise controls servo. A blue wire with the phrase to vehicle tech signal, a LT purple with the phrase to cold side of brake switch and a brown wire with a inline fuse(which is funny to me if it's factory)all are cut and not connected to anything (comeing throught the firewaill under the dash). i also do not see cut wires on a harness any were. So where do these wires connect to? 92 rs v6

Re: cruise control wires

I have a chilton the problem is a dont see any of the colors in question coming from the fuse block. For instances attached you will see a brown wire with an inline fuse and a metal tab use to piggy back on another fuse. and the only brown wire in the picture goes to the a/c controls.

Re: cruise control wires

yeah thats what I thought but this is the part it's coming from(servo pic). the harness pic is what the other wires coming from the servo are attached to. The harness is coming out of the steering column and from the picture in the chilton it's said to be the redundant radio harness?. the harness *** four letters B R Y G and those are the colors of the wires brown red yellow and green

Re: cruise control wires

Yeah i followed the wires to the cruise contol module and there were two wire taped in to it with some 3M taps. I couldn't even guess what they were doing. Hell they used duck tape to connect the radio harness together. Thanks for the help you'll

Re: cruise control wires

Duct tape is conductive...

No telling with people these days

I pulled a complete cruise system off my 92 if you're looking for a plug and play replacement

Re: cruise control wires

IS there a way to tell if my car originally came with cruise control?

Re: cruise control wires

If the knockout hole in the firewall is missing, its a good bet it was originally equipped with cruise. Another rarely removed bit is the cruise module itself behind the ECM. Its on its own little bracket mounted to the heater core box

You should also have a cruise signal stalk. Cars not equipped have a solid end where most have the engage button

Re: cruise control wires

yeah the switch is on the column (do you thank i can use that for a kill switch ?). It was the colors throwing me off. There where two wires a gray and a blue. The gray has writing on it to vehicles speed signal and the other to vehicles tach signal. Then there was a red, yellow, brown, green and puprle i was going crazy looking for them on the wiring chart. I am going to remove it.

Re: cruise control wires

Thats a really good idea for a kill switch. Use the cruise on/off to toggle a relay for the IGN. A thief would never think he'd have to turn the cruise on in order to be able to start the car

Re: cruise control wires

The button in the tip is set/coast

The slider has 3 positions. Left is off, middle is cruise on, push it to the right for resume/accel. It will slide back to the middle when released
