ACC Circuit Breaker
Does anyone know why the ACC circuit breaker for the Power door locks, Rear window defogger and Power seats gets hot. It gets so hot that I can not touch it without burning my fingers.

Re: ACC Circuit Breaker
all of the things you listed take alot of amperage. amperage(load) creates heat.
you must have girly hands if your getting burnt on that

Re: ACC Circuit Breaker
That's cold man. Use an ampmeter, or better yet a Fuse Buddy, to test current load on the circuit. Make sure it doesn't go higher than the rating of the breaker. If it does, the breaker should trip.

a little more info would be nice... Is it hot all the time? or just when using the seats, just using power locks, or all of them at once?

Re: ACC Circuit Breaker
your right when you think the breaker shouldn't be hot when nothing on that circuit is being used . time to use an amp meter, the draw could be pretty high so make sure the amp meter can read at least 30A.
if your worried about it change the breaker

Re: ACC Circuit Breaker
It's possible the breaker could just be faulty. If it is not making good connection, the arcing of the contacts will produce heat.

Re: ACC Circuit Breaker
I tried new breakers and I am having the same results. I guess its time to start unpluging things. How would I check with a amp meter?

Re: ACC Circuit Breaker
An ammeter has to be installed inline with the circuit. I use blade terminals to make test leads so that I can connect the ammeter between one side of the circuit breaker and its connection at the fuse panel. Then watch amperage while you disconnect and reconnect items on the circuit. For details on the ACC circuit, go to my "wiring diagrams thread on the Electronics forum and follow the link to eaglemark.comDIY EFI. We are compiling a huge diagram library there. I have recently up loaded fuse and breaker details for the 87.
