Re: no horn after turn signal cam

I just did mine. I also got the cam to finally work.

In the protrusion from the cancelling cam, do you have a little metal pin and spring in there? If not, she ain't gonna go beep beep

with the wheel off. if you short the center of the column to the metal lead coming up for the horn you will hear beep beep. That means it's that little pin and springy thingy.

I grabbed my steering wheel puller, my sockets, headed to the boneyard and took that little springy thingy from a 3rd gen that was there

remove the wheel

do you see the tube, or protrusion or whatever you call it coming toward you from the cancelling cam? There should be a metal pin and a spring inside that tube. Without those little parts we get no beep beep beep

Re: no horn after turn signal cam

A ball point pen spring works if ya might be missing one. I just tested that theory and it works fine.

Can't help with a lumpy cam in the turn signals...but the Comp 286 roller in my race car's 406 is kinda lumpy.

Re: no horn after turn signal cam

I saved myself future hassle after replacing the relay to no avail.... Installed a push button/toggle for my horn. Works great but have it mounted to the side and not nearly as much fun as beating on the steering wheel when someone ticks you off. Have a horn nonetheless.......

Re: no horn after turn signal cam

Hmmm...a G-body owner. Very nice Buck. I've owned quite a few G-bodies. I only have one at the moment. An 85 Monte Carlo SS:

I've owned it since 1996, but it hadn't been driven for about 10 years up until last month. Unfortunately, it didn't like trying to get 500HP thru a 7.5" rear end and on the first WOT pass on the salt flats, the pinion yoke broke, allowing the driveshaft to spin outta control at around 4000 rpm (GPS said I was doing 137 when it broke) wreaking havoc and destruction on anything it could find. That was the end of my racing for the year. But I'll be back in 2012 with a much "de-bugged" race car. I'm shooting for speeds around 160 the way it sits...well, I need to do some interior mods, but the drive train will remain essentially the same.

G-bods and F-bods rule!

and now...
