I need help, all power in car is dead.
i went to start my car(i have a switch since my ignition stopped working), the radio and subs came on, but not so loud it would do anything. as i was getting ready to leave, all the treble in the music stopped and all i heard was bass, then my car died. right as it died, i saw smoke coming up from the passenger side of the engine, close to the window.
Now nothing in my car comes on, the brake lights don't work, when i turn the key nothing comes on(my fan is supposed to stay on, along with my fuel pump.
The only things that work are my headlights, the red lights that stay on at night, and my cig lighter charges my phone.
any ideas on how to fix this???

So it's working now? Otherwise yeah, sounds like somethings going on with the fusible links on the starter post.

Not a good idea. They protect the wiring from catching fire, if there is a short anywhere downstream. Replace with new links, or wire a few gauges smaller than what they are protecting. Or at least fit in-line fuses, say 50-60A. And solder them in, twisting or crimping is not good enough here.

If by this you mean, "How do I find out what wire/connection/ground is bad?" You will need to get a multimeter and run continuity and voltage checks. Or you can inspect the wiring to see if there is any visual damage. If not disregard this post entirely.
