Hi everyone, just barely bought an 88 GTA!

The biggest issue is the parking lights do not work at all.
The headlights, turn signals, brake lights all work... so I'm definitely confused on it.

I'm just waiting for the car to be shipped to me, but I figured I'd start a thread and ask if its something common. I tried to search but didn't come across much. Plus I've already ordered a new headlamp switch/button just because the current one was faded/worn and figured I'd buy a new one off ebay!

 

Nobody?..

I know the first thing I'll do is check all the fuses. But the bulbs are good because they activate when using turn signals, brakes, etc...

 

I'll bet on the switch. With the switch just activating the parking lamps, does your fog lights work???

I couldn't get the fog lights to turn on at the dealership but the 'P' side of the button felt very worn. The new switch arrived yesterday, I just bought it off ebay = http://www.ebay.com/itm/251726596196?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Is the switch a common issue then?

 

I just replaced mine after 26 years! So no, but they do wear out. I'm sure it's your switch by the sounds of it, especially if it would not turn on the fogs and "it felt very worn"

 

I always tend to forget how old these cars are haha. I hope this resolves the issue.

I'll be sure to report back once I replace the switch, but is there anything else outside of that could cause this?

 

maybe....... bad/broken wiring, fuses, bulbs,shorts,grounds...........don't go there!

 

I'll hope its the switch, like I said it definitely appeared to be broken on the 'P' switch.
I will update once I get the car here in 2 weeks!

 

Getting the car this Friday, but in addition to the Headlight switch, I also bought an extra dimmer switch.

I'll update this Friday STOKED.

 

I got the car and all fuses appear to be fine! - Just going to replace the switch today and see where that goes.

 

FIXED! - It was the headlight switch 15 minutes and BAM everything works!
