Small dist harness question

Is there a mating connector for this little guy? I've searched a bit and came up dry but wondering if anybody knows. Thanks

Re: Small dist harness question

I don’t think there is a female side other than the icm. Maybe ask scooter.

Re: Small dist harness question

The datasheet doesn't show a mating connector and Aptiv catalog says the typical application is the distributor module. This leads me to believe that it may not a have a mating connector body, but only a header type application for the male side

Re: Small dist harness question

If your going to large cap hei just cut the harness and install a Delphi 12015797
atleast I think it’s a male connector.

More than what you need but it has the terminals and weather proof plugs.

I didn't think it did but figured I'd check with the pros. Trying to avoid cutting the harness but it may come to that.

Re: Small dist harness question

I don't know how ghetto you want to get, but if you destroy an old ICM you could use the header out of that to make an adapter, solder new connections to the header, shrink wrap and then POT it with epoxy to make sure it won't come apart. Or a IAC from a LSx application works too

I always forget which is which, is that the connector to the ECM, or to the coil? If it is the short harness connection to the coil I could make you a new one with what you want to do.

Re: Small dist harness question

Cut it a few inches back from the connector, and add a 4-way weatherpack or metripack connector. Then you can stick the mating half of the connector to the old harness stub, and another onto the wiring you need for the large cap distributor. If you decide to go back, all you have to do is unplug the old and plug in the new.

Alternatively, cut the connector as close as possible and if you ever decide to go back, you can crimp new terminals onto the wires and replace the connector, and you'll only lose a 1/2" of length.

OR... Unwrap the harness far enough to reach the splice(s) into the harness, and cut/splice/modify the harness deep in the bowels of wire wrap and split loom where no one will ever know it's there!

Re: Small dist harness question

Check out eficonnection. Com for their connector section.
If that doesn't pan out you may be able to unpin that connector and just stick them in a new metri pack connector

Re: Small dist harness question

Pretty sure that's a pull to seat, so you'd have to cut the wire to replace the connector.

It is definitely a pull to seat, it is also a different terminal than the big cap, so that won't work

RBob.
There are two types of the 4 cavity 150.2 Metri-pak, they don't show the inside of the connector body to tell which one it mates to, but that is good to know

Right, I'm wanting to build an adapter harness from the cars 4cav metricpack to the large distributor 4cav weatherpack.

Going to use MSDs 6al harness adapter for the factory side of the coil/tach to distributor.

I asked casper if they had or could built a kit for what I'm doing. I'm sure demand would be small to 0 but figured I'd ask.

That link Rbob posted MAY work, it's hard to tell since you can't see inside the connector. It appears that it has no orientation tabs, so it may work for both of the 150.2 Metri connectors. I looked on the site for the mating connector part they mentioned, but I couldn't find it. Let us know what they say, I could potentially be persuaded to buy a few if needed.

Re: Small dist harness question

They said it will work perfectly. He also asked about the other 2 wire connector coming from module to coil but IIRC, I shouldn't need that.

Re: Small dist harness question

One more quick question, does anyone have a picture of the tach/coil wire harness going into the large cap HEI tpi dist? Is it 2 separate connectors or a single connector with 2 wires?

You can use a msd harness and put on the hei terminals on the other end.

Re: Small dist harness question

Exactly what I'm doing for that. I looked through my detail pictures and caught a pic of the 4 pin harness, looks like the little one was just cut off and the weatherpack 4cavity was put on. Still not sure I want to go that route yet.

Re: Small dist harness question

Looks like they do make it in a single connector. If you go this route and do t want to splice the wiring contact scooter he might know the series of the connectors so you can just crimp them on instead of splicing.
It might be series 56 not positive though.

One more question, has anyone found a replacement internal wire harness for the large cap distributors? Again, I've poked around but maybe I'm not using the correct vernacular

I hear you. I don't see anything from my sources. I think your only shot would be to call one of the aftermarket people and see if that is something they can provide, like MSD since they make distributors.

With your other post, did you get that connector body from Caspers?
