Well, as the old saying goes, "If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all!" Here I am at the end of a long build and ready to go racing again and we have just finished installing my nice new Holley 52 mm throttle body. The car started perfectly first try with the exception of one itty-bitty problem.. Right throttle body... wrong throttle linkage!!

So, the $360 plus shipping bucks spent at Summit for this part is not going to work for me. This unit is for an 85 through 88 Corvette, as well as some applications for Pontiac and Camaro.

I will sadly have to take a bit of a hit on this and sell it for $300 including gaskets, bolts and shipping costs. It's as good as brand new having had maybe two minutes run time on my motor when we found the gas pedal and throttle cable couldn't pull the throttle linkage on the throttle body open without a serious amount of push on the pedal until the linkage moved open about a quarter inch. Undriveable like that, so I had to get the proper one for my 89.

why not just spend $25 and swap out the throttle cable for the older style?

 

I have already replaced it with a 58 mm TB with the correct linkage. The linkage was the older style. (I have an 89 Corvette, and this TB fits an 85 through 88 Vette, as well as several Camaro and Pontiac applications). I needed one with a throttle cable guide, and after consulting with my tuner, he thought I would get better performance with a 58mm rather than a 52mm anyway, so I just bit the bullet and replaced the entire thing.
