1990-92 TPI Canister Purge Solenoid
Recently performed a TPI conversion on my LO3 TBI Formula and discovered that the canister purge solenoid works opposite of what I have. Correct canister part number should be 17090155, but I don't need the whole canister, just the solenoid.

Re: 1990-92 TPI Canister Purge Solenoid
Appreciate the input, but therein lies my problem. The canister on my 1990 LO3 is 17088067. It has a normally closed solenoid. I have tested it and with 12v the solenoid opens to allow flow. The SD TPI ECM evidently requires a normally open solenoid. At idle I'm seeing 12v at the solenoid. Canister purge should not be commanded at idle, therefore I assume the 90-92 TPI system works in reverse; i.e. I need a normally open solenoid instead of the normally closed solenoid that I currently have. This is verified by my 1990 service manual. I have used a relay to facilitate a work-around, but I would prefer to have the correct part(s). The memcal I am using is for 1991 5.0 TPI, therefore I assume that if I get a solenoid spec'd for a 91 TPI I would have the correct part.

Older part number for the same part. But hey, it's your funeral.

This one came out of a car that probably had less than 20K on it before it became salvage and I stored it. And I used a can of spray air on my first test and it seems to me this is a closed port until it's electrically activated. It seems closed to me as is.

Re: 1990-92 TPI Canister Purge Solenoid
Never mind, I don't need one after all. I was getting a false positive reading on my DVO meter. My electronic tech friend explained how it happens. The solenoid I have appears to be okay after all. Still doesn't explain my factory service manual showing a NO solenoid.
Sorry for the trouble.
