305 stroker

i was just wondering if anyone out there has put a stroker kit in there305 and what kind of results they got, my proposed combo is a 305 .30 over stroker kit+vortec heads+comp cams 268h cam
(218/218@.50, .454/.454, 110;lobe seperation). what kind of power can i expect. compression ratio is ok as lon as it runs on pump gas 92 octane. thanks
also feel free to make suggested changes to my combo.

this is all going on my 84 z28

holly hi rise intake
edelbrock carb
hedman headers
full 3 inch exhaust(flowmaster)
hollow cat
accel ignition

Hey. These people are going to tell you to put in a 350 because of of price verses cubic inches and power. But alot of people can be surprised at what a 305 can do.I have my 305 surprise me a time or two agaisnt a mustang 5.0,4.6 and a few 350's.It's basically what you want to do.But a 350 is more cost effective for more power.

You'll spend less money and go faster if you forget that idea and get a "bore kit" for your 305 instead, otherwise known as a 350 block. Sure you can make a 305 faster than it is, and sure you can make a 305 beat some 350s; but dollar for dollar, a 350 will beat a 305 every time. 350s that will drop right into your 84 are everywhere, there are literally millions of them in the world, and they are cheaper by far than that kit.

Don't use your own money as the weapon to shoot yourself with. Spend it wisely and get the most for it.

If that's all you want, a properly built 350 without those expensive parts will accomplish that.

Ok, I entered the specs you mentioned for that combo on the 305 into the DTD (under 350 bored .030 over) and it spit out a 387bhp @ 5500 and 409tq @ 3900.. I also set up the TPI at 1100 CFM to achieve these numbers, you will HAVE to port the hell out of the TPI or better yet, go SuperRam. Stock they can supply air up to 5500-5900 rpm and ported you may get 6200rpm out of it... The same specs on a 305 gives you 359bhp @ 5500 and 350tq @ 3900... So as you can see, bang for the buck? GO 350!! That setup will also alow you to go with more cam. .454 is barely abover 91-92 stock... If you go with a 1.6 rocker and .510 .510 (range) cam, you can get 404bhp @ 5500 and 413tq @ 3900. I hope that this helps you out. :lala:

correction, I entered those specs with a .030 bore over, but with a stock stroke, if you do a .30 stroke kit with the same setup, here is what you will get... 415bhp @ 5500 447tq @ 3900 That is with the .030 bore over, if you leave it with a stock bore, that is 413bhp @ 5500 441tq @ 3900. :hail: :hail:

that is awesome

but i have an edelbrock carburated vehicle so will that change it?
i plan on stayin with just a 30 over 350 stock stroke. how about a cam like camp cams 219/229@.050, 462/482, and 110 lobe seperation. how deos that sound. they say the power range is 2000-6000.

420hp @ 5500rpm 426tq @ 3900rpm... Respectable numbers. Easy 12 sec car. Id say 12.7 @ 109mph According to DTD, you can gain 20hp and 15tq by using a single plane manifold instead of a dual. I entered these numbers with 750cfm carb. Good luck...
