Yes. Why would you think that you couldn't? The only problem that you'll run into is that the holley carb on the zz4 won't pull the TV cable far enough, so you need to buy a bracket, or put some shims on the front side of the cable to make it think it's shorter. Then everything will work just fine.

No.

The cruise control operates off of the ECM. If you go with carb, it'll go brain dead. The cruise won't work.

Explain how. Cruise is an open loop PID control system that responds to a delta in speed. As long as the ECM sees speed it's going to be able to operate the cruise. Unless the ECM has been removed, I don't see the problem.

Of course it won't work if it has nothing to control it. You can always get a properly calibrated brick to use as cruise control.

DON'T REMOVE THE ECM!!!!!

I don't know why people do this. It's the single most wasteful mod to do to a car. Especially on something as simple as a TBI to Carb swap. You only have one extra connector! It's not going to save 100 lbs or anything. Not having an ECM is just a huge pain in the ***.

Well, I conducted a little "experiment" on my car.

Disconnected the TPS, drove it, no difference. No SES light, car ran fine, TCC locked up, cruise control worked.

Reconnected the TPS, disconnected the distributor ECM connector. SES light came on, car ran but not as well, TCC didn't lock up, cruise control worked.

So, if you can draw any general conclusions from this test on my relatively dumb carb ECM, the cruise will work even with no engine input. Granted, I didn't try it with both the TPS and distributor disconnected, and who knows if you guys' "smart" EFI ECMs would respond differently.

But, if you want cruise, you may want to reconsider your plan to "yank" all your wires & ECM.
