Will my 700R4 Work with a 350?

I Have a 1987 camaro with a 2.8 in it, i want to put a 350 in it. The car has a 700r4 tranny but i saw some were online that the ones in the 6's are different from the ones in the 8's, basicly i want to know if the tranny i have will work with a 350? Thanks!

It will bolt right up.Now for good part.It won't last very long. You will need a 700r4 from a v8 and it will go in just as easy as taking out the other.

Same 700R4 for both the V-6 & V-8's. So why replace it with the same transmission???

Car: yy wife, crazy.
Engine: 350, Vortecs, 650DP
Transmission: TH-350

Nope..... the bellhousing is totally different for the 60* V-6 than the 90* V6 and V8. It will not bolt up.

I suppose if you're that desperate, you could remove all the guts from it and put it in a different case. That would work.

I can't answer the "will fit/won't fit" question... but anybody who says a 700R4 won't last behind a V8 doesn't know much about them. I've got an 89 Blazer with a 350 that's seen plenty of miles hauling on the beach through soft sand, and I've got 230K miles on the original 700R4 and its still as good as the day I bought it new.

The V6 700R4 WILL NOT bolt to the V8.

While I don't know much about the V6 700 as the V8 700...

I will assume it is similar in the fact that a

V6 T-5 is rated at 210ft lbs of torque
V8 T-5 is rated at 300+ft lbs of torque.

Granted I'll be using a v6 T-5 behind my V8, and know many who do so and have no problems, I'd a V6 manual behind my V8, than a V6 Auto (That is, if the auto fit).

If it was a 700R4 from a 4.3L V6 then it would work and you'd have no problems. Like the one guy said, the 2.8 is 60Deg and the V8 is 90deg. Not interchangeable

The V6 bellhousing is different than the V8. Also there are minor internal differences as well. The V6 has less clutches in the clutch pack than the V8 along with a couple other things that I can't remember off the top of my head.
