swapping in a lt1/t56 into a 89 iroc
i see theres a ton of posts and a lot of stuff to look thru but i thought id post while i look over some threads.
i have a 89 iroc id like to swap in a lt1 and t56 into, the iroc is a auto. i have a complete donor fourth gen car to take parts off of.
will everything i need be on the donor car? or will there be things ill need to get that are aftermarket?
i also have a accel dfi system to use along with a stock pcm and harness with the fourth gen, which shoudl i go with??
what about the fuel system? should i just swap over the one from the donor car?
any links or thoughts will be usefull, thanks!

Since you have the donor car, you will have pretty much everything you'll need. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that you would need is a powersteering line, fuel line fittings, and the a/c adapter for the compressor if you plan to keep a/c. You won't need to change anything on the fuel system since you already have a high pressure pump, but if you plan to do mods down the road you will need a better pump.
As far as the Accel DFI, sell it to me. Dirt cheap.
But seriously, since you've got that, I would definitely use it. It will give you a lot more control over the engine and tuning it. If you just plan to keep the engine stock, keep the 4th gen PCM. If you plan to do any mods later on, definitely use the Accel.

fuel pump out of the fourth gen?
what AC fittings will i need? i totally forgot about the AC, will i be able to run the one out of the fourth gen? will it clear the frame? most lt1 swaps i see/hear have to notch the frame.
i dont know what pcm to use as of yet, im thinking of using the fourth gen one.
the t56 seems to be pretty straight forward, i read the sticky in the transmission section. what worried me was the pedal placement, etc.

You could swap in the 4th gen pump if you wanted to I guess, but you wont see any gains from it, you'll just be able to hold off upgrading it a little longer, I think it supports a little more power.
If you want to keep a/c and use the F-Body accessories, you will have to notch the crossmember. It's not as involved as it sounds, you just need a little bit of clearance to clear the a/c compressor. Some people have been able to use the stock lines and reshape them to work with the 4th gen compressor. I got an A/C adapter from CarQuest that makes it a lot simpler, I'm still working on getting the part number.
Like I said, if it were me, and I had any thoughts of doing mods later down the road, I would use the Accel system. It will take a litte more work to get it running just because you'll have to do some tweaking of the tune, but in the end I think you would be better off with it.
I wouldn't worry about the pedals at all, they will be a direct bolt in. I think the most difficult part of swapping to the manual would be drilling the hole for the master cylinder in the firewall.
