Other car/truck engines that will fit 1987 Camaro
Does anyone know of any other cars/trucks (make, model, year) whose engine will fit in a 1987 Camaro V6 2.8 liter? Also, do you know the approx. price? Thank you.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
Are you wanting to keep the V6, or go to a V8?
As far as I know, the only rear wheel drive 60 degree V6's used by GM were in 3rd gen f-bodies and S10-series vehicles, and they were different between the cars & trucks. The later 3rd gen V6's were 3.1 liter, and much improved over the 2.8. 3.4 liter 60 degree V6's are also out there, I believe they were used in early 4th gen f-bodies and some trucks. Also available as a crate engine. This all is discussed on the V6 forum.
If you're thinking V8, then what Tom said. Although, "fit" is a very relative term. Read the V6 to V8 swap sticky at the top of this forum.

Don't forget the GM 3.1 was available with TBI in the isuzu rodeo circa 1991-1992. The fiero 2.8 also shares many common parts.

I saw a sad looking early 4gen at a local JY with 3.4L. IIRC GM at one time offered a complete retrofit kit for 2.8L to later 3.4L V6

4.3 L is basically a 90 degree engine (similar to Gen 1 V8) whereas 2.8 L is 60 degree V6 with a different bell housings pattern. 4.3L can be fitted, but transmission swap (or bell housing adapter) should be considered.

Thank you all so much for your quick responses. It looks like everything is going to work out (knock on wood). I had a bit of misfortune at a garage I took my car to and I found out today that they will be giving me a remanufactured motor with pretty much new everything except my original electronics and injectors (not just a motor pulled from another car and thrown in my car).
Thanks again for the quick responses. You are all awesome.
