Re: BB Swap Pics
very nice and clean install. Looks great!
how is it to work on? spark plugs, oil change, valve cover removal?
any major handling differences with the added weight to the front? What trans are you running?

Re: BB Swap Pics
I believe all your questions can be answered from the original thread:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...tml?highlight=
I used the small block mounts with energy suspension urethane biscuits. They make the engine sit up about 1/4 inch higher since they do not crush like rubber. The alternator and ps brackets are Alan Grove units.
3rdgenmaro,
Thanks for the compliment. It is very easy to work on since the A/C and wiper motor are gone. It is an RS....so it never handled very well to begin with. With the relocation of the battery and losing the A/C, I didn't gain much weight on the front. I'm running fats on the back and skinnies on the front, so I'm not that concerned with handling (old school
)I will post some more pics later this week.
Boo.

Re: BB Swap Pics
Ok, I've had quite a few PMs on the accessory brackets. I used the Alan Grove mid mount alternator bracket (I thought the mid-mount looked cleaner) and I used the Alan Grove PS bracket for long water pump.
In order to clear the steering box, the PS bracket had to be slightly modified. I drilled an extra upper hole and pivoted the bracked up (see 1st picture). This gave plenty of clearance for the pump pulley (see 2nd pic).
The pulleys are all Billet Specialties (big block long water pump).

Re: BB Swap Pics
There are no clearance issues with this combo. No mods to the wheel wells were made and they don't stick out.

Re: BB Swap Pics
Thanks, I appreciate it!! I haven't run it at the track yet. We have an 1/8th mile track about 10 miles from my house. I'm ready to take it up there and run it. When I built the car, I was shooting for mid 11s in the 1/4. I think it will do that. It hooks really hard with the M/T tires on the street!!

Re: BB Swap Pics
dude if that big block is built (which it looks it) I think you'll be surprised if it'll hook up out of the box, my 82 Z has a 350 .40 over with a .632 gross lift cam, headers, edelbrock intake and a holly 750dp and I'm usually around 11.50's. My buddy has a 454 in his 87 T/A and it's just a bolt on car and he's deep into the 10's

Hi Boo,
Sent you a message before i saw this thread. Again very helpfull!! Just one dumb question...
I'll be using a CSR electric water pump and the Alan Grove 236R bracket will do the trick... The PS bracket 418L looks like the trick as well... but here is the question... what crank pully would i use. My assumption is a long water pump 2 groove and i also assume the alternator hits the outside groove and the PS pump hits the inside? Am i all wet?

My set-up is a mixture of a few brands (as you read). All the pulleys I used are Billet Specialties. I wanted something that looked good and they were a lot less expensive than March. All are for long water pump. I used their two groove crank pulley, and single pulleys for the ps pump, water pump and alternator. The ps rides on the inside and the alternator rides on the outside. The alan grove brackets are for long water pump also, so the alternator (even though it's a low mount) is on the the same plane as a standard upper-mount bracket.
They should work fine for an electric water pump. You'll just have to use much shorter belts.

Re: BB Swap Pics
Thanks Booboosean for all your advice. I reseached all i could and in the end... decide to throw money at it and go with the March set up (PN 23007 kit for electric pump)
I added it up and by the time i had steel parts plated or bought chrome parts separately, it would only be a couple hundred difference. Frankly the parts from March look great and go together great.
I went with the headers you suggested (patriot H-8012-1) coated. they are really nice. Thick flange at the head... nice!!!
Here is a pic of the motor as it stands today. It's all done save the accesories i'll be moving over from my existing SBC

FYI the swap process will begin when i get back from vacation Mid June. Here is a pic of the car from a show last nite.

Thanks again
