vette motor into GTA
I am looking at swapping a 350 tpi out of a 1986 corvette into a 1989 GTA that has a blown 350 tpi in it. the motor does not have a wiring harness with it other than that it is complete. How much of a pain is this going to be to swap in? or will it just bolt up? Thanks for the help

'89 f-body TPI is MAF. Only difference from '86 TPI is the deletion of the cold start injector.
'86 Vette could be either cast iron heads (early '86) or aluminum ('86-1/2). In either case, it has the "pre-'87" intake mount bolt pattern (angles on the center two bolts on each side). If you just swap in the entire Vette engine/TPI, this won't be a problem - but you'll need to do the harness and ECM as well. You can keep the '89 ECM by swapping the plenum, or just not connecting the cold start injector (using the '89 harness, obviously).
You'll need to remove the Vette oil pan and pump, and install f-body parts. Your '89 pan will fit, but you might as well get a new oil pump. Swap over your '89 front accessories as well.
Overall, it's a bit of a downgrade (lose roller lifters), and not emissions-legal. Difficulty-wise, it won't be that hard, regardless of how you go about it.

Well, I talked too much. It is much simpler than I made it sound.
You can take the harness off of your 305 TPI and set it aside in the engine compartment, pull the engine and TPI complete, do the change-overs for the Vette engine (oil pan & pump, accessories, exhaust manifolds - the Vette exhaust manifolds won't fit in the chassis), install the 350 in your GTA, and reattach the harness. The cold start injector just won't have a connector on it.
You'll need the 350 knock sensor module. The knock sensor itself should still be on the engine in the passenger side water jacket drain hole.
If this engine has aluminum heads, the EGR tube will need to be routed to the exhaust manifold as well. I'm not clear on the details, but I believe the A.I.R. tubes are different - but they should transfer over from the Vette exhaust manifold to your GTA manifold. If you have headers - fabrication will be required.

You might want to post public if you want to be assured of a correct answer. . .
