1985 Iroc z, 305 to 2 bolt main 350 flywheel

I have tried searching threads for help but everyone seems to have a different application.. Seems easier to get my own response.. Soo, what flywheel do i go with for a 350 2 piece rear main 2 bolt main motor.. i know i need a 153 tooth with a smaller bolt pattern .. but i cant seem to find the right one. Btw its of course a stock 5 speed and ( new stock clutch )

Don't try to get all fancy with teeth and bolt patterns and all that. Too much work. You'll overload the computation circuits on the other side of the parts counter.

You need the stock flywheel for 83-85 V8 Camaro/Firebird. That's all. Very simple.

You will find that there are 2 of them; a heavy one (about 22 lbs), that was used on the low-perf LG4 grocery-getter mules, and a lighter one (about 16 lbs) that was used in the higher perf L69. If you have a choice you'll probably want the light one.

I bought the lighter flywheel for an 85 camaro and its for a 1 piece rear main which has a bigger bolt pattern.. my engine has a 2 piece rear main crank with a smaller bolt pattern so the stock flywheel wont work..

I think you are confused as to what style crank / engine you have

2 pce crank has 3.58" pcd ( bolt circle) ;
1 pce crank has smaller 3.00" pcd

For cross reference
GM 153 tooth lightweight flywheel
2 pce GM # 14085720
1 pce GM # 14088646

Does your crank flange look like this?

'85 didn't have 1 piece rear main seal.

What's the casting # on your 350 block?

Re: 1985 Iroc z, 305 to 2 bolt main 350 flywheel

yeah and you can use the 3.8l v6 fly wheel from a 82 malibu wich is the one i have been using for a while and also some late 70 early 80s vettes had the small flywheel as in the 153 teeth with the two piece real seal 350s

i found this out looking for a pressure plate for my iroc as my parts store told me its the same pressue plate for the older vette as my 89 iroc so you can use a stock clutch with the vette flywheel and i was told the clutch disc was different depending what trans was in the vettes wich would mean 26 splines or the old style 10 spline input shaft and if your running the t-5 you have the 26 spline input on the trans

and 85 and most 86 maybe some earlier third gen camaros with the old style blocks had the correct flywheel

'86 was the change-over year for the rear main seal.

yea after i posted this i realized that i was confused.. i had it backwards.. i needed a flywheel for a piece RMS.. for some reason i was thinking my rear main was 2 pieces.. anyways i got the flywheel problem solved but not the pilot bearing that came with my clutch kit wont go in. only barely sits on the lip almost as if i is supposed to be pressed ( when its not )
