Hawks used 350 tpi complete engines

Anybody bought one before? Any good? I'm looking to swap my 305tbi to a 350tpi on a budget. What should I expect buying this engine? It comes with just about everything I need besides a few other things for the swap. Or is there any better website that has complete engines like this all I'm looking for is to just drop it in without rebuilding or buying alot of new parts for it. Thanks alot guy!

Just curious , do they do a compression and leak down test and document the oil pressure ?

For 1200 bucks plus shipping you could find a whole car with everything including swap items. I'd keep my eyes on craigslist to find a complete car, that way you can actually see the engine first hand before you buy it. Just my

This is very good advice. I'm not a fan of just picking up a used engine and dropping it in. Even if they sell you everything for under the hood and I'm guessing the complete TPI harness and ECM, you will still need to upgrade your intank fuel pump as far as I know. the TBI uses a weaker fuel pump than the TPI. Again IMO there is no plug and play used engine-it needs to be gone through and tested.

In my area (new Orleans) they want alot for nothing. I got fooled into paying $5000 for my car. I know I got ripped off, but I got my dream car so I guess it's okay. The way it looks in order to find a descent complete running engine is to find it online (hawks). Well what way would you think I should go? Get a nice crate engine then find a complete tpi system? Or get a hawks engine. In my area it's going to be practically impossible to find a car that's still running for under $2k...

Are there any local machine/speed shops in your area? I'd check them out, see if there any good and a lot of times they have screaming deals on engines. They can often times help you find stuff through other customers. Otherwise how mechanically inclined are you? For the price Hawks wants you could find a Lsx 5.3 liter and install for maybe a $1000 more than that and you'll have way more power potential. Otherwise find an inexpensive 350 with good heads. Retain the TBI. Nothing wrong with it. Easy to deal with and can be made to increase performance, just check the TBI boards. And if you still really want a TPI just keep your eyes open, on these boards or craigslist. More and more of them are being almost given away since LSx swaps became popular.

I just bought a complete running 88 GTA for $1000.00 to use as a donor car for my sons 90 RS transplant. A lot cheaper than the money hawks is asking for the motor and wiring. Plus I get to upgrade a few more items
