i have an unbelievable idea. 1jz.

i know im not the first to think it, but after the v6 blew, i decided to do the impossible. ive been doing a lot of researc. im convinced its possible. t56 tranny with uz auto bellhousing, bolted to the jz. ive got the interior gutted, and almost the same with the engine bay. ive got the battery relocated, and the front support cut for a vmic setup. the hoo will be cut in a reverse induction style, similer to the 380sx. im also loking into making it a hoon machine. i want to drift it. so its gonna get a lot of suspension upgrades, and be heavily jdm influenced.

tl;dr...
1jz-gte turboed stanced camaro jdm drift missile. opinions?

That's the 1JZ.

Anything is possible with enough money. I just don't think it is worth it unless you already have the T56 and complete 1JZ on hand.

With enough time, money and fabrication skills, any kind of swap is possible but dropping something like that into a second gen won't be the same as dropping it into a third gen.

If you like the whole turbo V6 thing, I'd also consider swapping in a turbo buick motor (a la 1989 turbo GTA). It's been done before, so support is available.

Re: i have an unbelievable idea. 1jz.

well, im kinda trying to blaze my own trail. im about to buy an 87 a70 supra with the 7mge in it...the 1jz is the next step up.
i have pretty good fabrication skills, and im just really excited to do something thats never been done to a 3rd gen [that i know of].
im getting more support than i thought i would.
im getting a t56 next weekend [hopefully] if that falls through im looking at a wrecked z28 for 1300 that im gonna tear the t56 out of and part everything else out. should make my money back.
as for the jz....im importing that;3

the 2jz in that firebird looks gorgeous. i wonder what times it gets?

Re: i have an unbelievable idea. 1jz.

There's a guy in another thread that is working on a 2JZ swap, and he has pictures of the engine at least in the engine bay of his 3rd-Gen. I don't think it's actually mounted, but it's a start.
