1987 Camaro SC

ZZ4 350

Speed Demon 4 bbl

Rebuilt 700 R4 (heavy duty clutch bands, TransGo shift kit, etc.)

2,500 RPM precision industries converter

SLP headers, 3.5 inch exhaust all the way to the Dynomax muffler

3.73 richmond ring and pinion 7.5 inch 10-bolt

Hoosier slicks

150 HP by NOS

Timeslips on all motor w/ toyo proxes H-4 tires (15X8)

R/T- .276
60'-2.262
330-5.829
1/8-8.758
MPH-84.3
1/4- 13.2
MPH- 105.6

it's an extremely streetable setup, (nitrous is there when you want it, gone when you don't) the ZZ4 350 is more than potent, and as streetable as the LS-1. It gets about 12-13 MPG on the street, and I haven't really had it on the highway enough to measure its economy there, but it can easily be driven in all types of weather, (extreme cold and extreme heat) starts and runs as well as a brand new car.

Due to the weather here, the tracks are closed, and lm itching to test the 150 shot. I can guarantee right now that it will run 11's with the sticky hoosiers.

now now, read carefully, it runs 13's on motor, do you honestly think it will be slower than 11's on a 150 HP shot of nitrous?

well, depending upon your suspension, tires, and ability to drive l really do think you should be able to pull off 11's once again depending upon your suspension, you may, with 650 HP be able to make it into the 10's, l have no doubt in my mind that the ZZ4 will be able to take the 150 HP shot, no problems at all. I used a 150 HP shot of nitrous on a 305 cu i TPI block, (stock internals) and got away with hundreds of nitrous runs and sevral bottles. the car was a 1990 IROC-Z, and l had faith in the motor, and l took good care of it. the runs go as follows:

Motor run:

R/T- .646
60'- 2.434
330- 6.579
1/8- 9.987
MPH- 72.31
1/4- 15.427
MPH- 90.41

Nitrous run:

R/T- .773
60'- 2.262
330- 5.829
1/8- 8.758
MPH- 84.33
1/4- 13.403
MPH- 103.6

the nitrous knocked off 2.024 seconds off my ET

13.2(ZZ4 350) - 2.024(N20) = 11.176

now l know the engines aren't nearly the same, but imo the nitrous should be capable of atleast 1.5 full seconds off my camaro's ET. (11.7) it will run 11's.........

'90 GTA...full weight
350 4 bolt main
TRW Flattop pistons (~10:1 compression)
'66 Vette heads mild porting, gasket matched, 3 angle valve job
Crane 284 cam
Performer RPM intake
Holley 750 vac. secondaries
Edelbrock RPM nitrous kit 150 shot

13.2's on motor
Best was a 12.20@114...only pass I made with the nitrous at the track on a 255 radial

I used the nitrous on the street the entire summer and my engine is as healthy as it was when it first went together. I find this to be quite a nice and reliable combo...

Haha...isn't that always the mustang/f-body race? Mustang gets the ET, f-body gets the mph

Anyways since this has been opened up to non-3rdgens and cars that haven't proven themselves yet, here's my setup:

'99 Camaro SS M6
MTI Stage 2 heads
MTI B1 cam
MTI hardened pushrods
MTI airlid
Speedtek ported stock MAF and throttle body
LS6 intake
4.10 gears in stock 10-bolt
MAC headers w/ offroad Y and cutout
Flowmaster muffler w/ SLP quad-center tips
HPP3
MAF-Translator

393 horse at the wheels, and 374 rwtq with a bum lifter. New set of lifters go in next week. By the time the tracks open i'll upgrade the stock computer and get a new clutch, and it should hit 11's on motor.

Also MouseCamaro: if you run that nitrous on the track off the line, with those hoosiers, my $20 says that 10-bolt grenades. You need a 12-bolt for that kind of power, and I don't think you'll see 11's without one! Sorry to be a doubter
