My best suggestion is to get a car that was an 8 with a blown motor in it. It is a ton of work to swap from the 6 and it would be cheaper and easier to get an 8 cylinder car. I got my camaro hoping to swap an 8, but ended up getting a trans am due to the fact that it just bolts in.

Dude. Use the period key now and then.

V6 or V8 - it doesn't matter. The big block is such a big change that the things you have to swap out are the same regardless. My car was a 2.8L with a 5-speed. A Vette ZF6 doesn't fit without major tranny tunnel changes and it's very expensive anyway.

According to your profile your about 13 years old, so I'm not going to argue with you on how many liters a 454 works out to be, call your local Chevy dealer and ask.

After you ask your local dealer search the archives then get back to us.

C'mon, if you don't know that a 5.0L is a 305 then you shouldn't even be thinking about an engine swap!!!! Just for a rough estimate you can figure about 60 cubic inches per Litre. You do the math. And ***, if a shop told you that a 5.0L is a 454, I would REALLY think twice about asking them to do my engine swap!! Just a thought.

305 cubic inches equals 5.0 liters. 454 is 7.4 liters. If you are basing your knowledge on what some guy told you, why would you argue about it with people who actually know for themselves?

Here is an analogy for you. Cubic inches is to liters what inches are to feet. When you measure something that is a certain length (say 12 inches long), you can tell people it's 12 inches long or that it's 1 foot long, because they're equivalent. It's not possible for something to be 14 inches long and still 1 foot long. That's what you're saying by arguing that 454 is 5.0. They're both units of measuring the volume of the cylinders, and there are roughly 305 cubic inches in five liters.

BTW, any shop that thinks 454 cubic inches equals 5.0 liters would not be touching MY cars with a 10 foot pole!

I probably know the answer to 90+% of your questions, but after you last comment to me I'm not sure I want to help.

A small piece of advice since your new here. If you want help don't get an attitude.

I want an 8.8 liter (8852) 540 CID

If you're just looking to do a swap, stick to a small block like a 350. The swap will be a lot easier.

I'll sell you a tight 5.0 that makes 330 horsepower (probably 350 gross!) with phat blown piston rings for $4k. Boy does she smoke! Just pay someone $600 to drop it in and leave those ricers behind!

WRONG!!

All you guys are wrong. I have never heard of a 7.4. And a 6.6 is a 400-403. A 454 is the same litres as a 455 (beleive me, I know) and thats 7.7. I personaly would go with a 350 v6. Its rare and hard to find, but they are really great.

Me growup!!! You insulted me too! I just hate how people show up and start talking like they know everything. Do I know for certain that a 350 V6 doesnt exist? No. Do I know know enough to call you out and tell you to prove it? Yes.

This is rediculous. This is getting locked, but to clarify...
a 454 is 454 Cubic Inches = 7.44106 Liters
Go here and check it out:
http://microimg.com/science/volume_equiv.html
A 455 is 7.45745 Liters

Enough of this flame BS.
