How much did you pay for the motor?

Good luck, and we want pics and numbers when it's finished.

ok update!

The motor is ALMOST done! We need a oil pressure sending unit(easy to get) an EGR bracket(not too hard to get) and little things.

We cranked the engine for a split second to make sure there were no fuel leaks, nope! none. All and all things went smoothly, missing a few important things but i was able to get em.

i'll have pics later and i'll work up some prices as well

i got the motor for 2K and i had to get maybe $200 in parts

i'll make up the list later

should be running tomorrow!!!!

uses a buick bolt pattern, i'm running a 700r4 for now using a TCI adapter plate that allows a chevy bolt patter tranny to bolt to a buick motor

What motor mounts are you using?

OE driver's side ones are totally obsolete and I was wondering which specialty ones u went with.

the guy i bought the motor off of included the rubber motor mounts and the frame mounts, but they didn't look stock to me, they looked more like Steve Kaminsky's mounts to me..

Cause a stock TTA motor would smoke any stock L98 out there...i was gonna go wtih a blown 355 or a 383 but why do that when i can get a TTA motor for $2K run mid-low 12's with minor bolt-ons(which is all i really want) and still get over 20 MPG, aren't gonna do that with a blown 355 or a 383

TECH ARTIVLE TECH ARTICLE lol this is gonna be hard to explain, i have an '86 camaro that was a 305 carbed but anyway someone else pulled the motor for somethin else(and trans) so me and a couple guys i work with(dealership) have decided to do the 3.8 buick motor with the Le Sabre heads and custom headers(and all components for swap) it'll be long and hard, but hell yea it'll be fun when i get it done(i have to find a good front clip, put the interior back togher, get a trans(T-5, or T56)) anyway, it is a ways off but i'm getting there.

DO NOT, i repeat, DO NOT go with a manual trans with a turbo 3.8, you will be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry

These motors are not high revvers like your import turbo motors. The power stops at around 5000-5200 much like a TPI motor. These engines require load to build boost, as soon as you let off the gas and push the clutch bye bye boost. Also it will be tough to build boost at the line.

Much research has been done on this, do yourself a HUGE favor...get a nicely built 200-4r with a 10'' converter, the results will be MUCH better

Just an FYI you don't NEED to change the heads unless u are retaining AC. Also make sure u change the pistons if u do the LeSabre heads or else you'll be sitting at around 9.0:1 compression...

9.0:1 and 16+ lbs of boost=fried head gasket or worse....

EDIT: Also if u keep the GN heads you can use the GN headers and x-over pipe(a relatively cheap find) but would need to have a custom downpipe made.
