Avoiding header leaks

I am waiting on a set of SLP headers and the installation kit. Are there any precautions or part substitutions I can make to avoid header leaks?
Thanks,
Chuck

Phillip - Did I forget to mention the possibility of ZZ4 heads/cam also Check your email

Thanks ODB I wonder if we ever met at Gateway. I used to be a Wednesday night regular back in '97-'98 in this car.

I used SCE Copper gaskets and Stage 8 Bolts (they are locking bolts) I have part numbers and everything at that second site in my sig.

SLP says not to use copper gaskets with stainless headers, go fel-pro.

Yep I have seen that comment to. I read what you have done to it on you web site, did you have the stall converter on the last time.
I want to put better heads on my car, but I need a daily driver first and the rear is going and I really want a new trans in it. This Friday might be my last time at the track.

Phillip, the converter has been in there since October, though it only stalls about 300 rpm more than stock. It was worth about .3 ET! Remember the first time I took the car out to Ennis (July 3) when my best ET was 14.81! I've dropped that to 13.94. Almost a second and the lower intake/valve covers have (probably) never been off. Definately not since I owned it. I still have the stock '87 airbox/exhaust back to the muffler. The only thing I have done since I last saw you at Ennis is the aluminum driveshaft/hatch pulldown motor. I know it's not as fast as your '92, but is it supposed to be? Check your email.

ODB - I am originally from St.Louis and spent many years in Mt. Vernon. I live in Texas for now but plan to move back the STL this winter. During the '97 season I maybe missed one Wednseday night brackets. Then the first half of '98 was about the same. I went for a couple Friday nights but I used to work most Friday's. My father was never with me but I often had a gal with me and sometimes a friend with a beat up grey S10. I always parked out by the very end of the fence separating the staging lanes from the lot (so I could pull into line quickly when my class was called This helped keep the motor cool/consistant). There was a gal named Linda that raced a ~89 charcoal Vette that always parked close by. What did you race back then? Did you ever go on Wednesdays?

I raced the camaro there from 1990-1994, then again in 1999.
I doubt that we met but I probably have seen your car there. I go to watch even when I'm not racing.
