Dual mufflers set up
There is a good local muffler shop that specialize in custom exaust system installs. I'm not very happy with the sound of my Z28 with the stock replacement Flowmaster with the dual cats removed and dual 3" tips. I seen a few and 4th gen with true dual muffler set up with Flowmasters and loved the way it sounded. Seen a few 3rd gen with the same set up but did not hear the way it sounded but will assume its the same.
What really bothering me is the the clearence of where the mufflers are located close to the body and below the rear seats where the mufflers are located.
Do they make a true dual set up and not the single pipe dual mufflers set-up?

i have true dual on my 82 firebird what do u mean with your post i mean the way it is on mine is u know one header goes to one muffler and the other header to the other muffler. i think it sounds soooooooo much nicer then an f-body with just a single flowmaster upgrade. the only problem i have is that the mufflers are low so speed bumps suck u better have good shocks and no one els in the car or what i am thinking about doing is putting like 2" or 3" blocks in the rear not so much that u can see a big difference but just to get more clearence.

Go and do a search for "dual exhaust" and look for a member named willie, his dual exhaust is freakin awesome, I think that is what I am going to do.

I'll save you some time and trouble of searching. Click on "SC Z!!!" in my sig, then go to the Exhaust page. I do not use Flowmasters. Instead, I use a pair of '69 Z28 reproduction chambered stainless mufflers from Stainless Works.

I have true duals on my 84...not as nice as Willie's though...:hail: My mufflers...which are glasspacks...are mounted right under the bumper, with twin tips on each side. The only scraping problem that I have had is the clamps. (i know, should be welded, but it is flex-pipe and temporary until I get the money to start really doing some work on her)

******* exhaust is the most beautiful thing that I have ever seen. I mean WOW!! Willie, do you have any other sound clips besides the one on your website? I am soon going to be putting an lt-1 into my car and I am seriously thinking about copying your setup on my car. The only problem for me is finding a shop in wichita, ks to do decent work. Oh well we shall see.
