so mad about my aerochamber

I just put a hooker aerochamber on my worked up 305 and i think its horrible...from what it said in the description it would b a throaty deep tone..well i cant even hear the damn thing over the fan in my engine when i rev it..personally if there isnt anyway to "blow out" the baffles to make it louder ill end up selling it for a different muffler.. im so dissapointed!

Wish I could post a sound clip of mine right now, you'd be in awe if you think the sound is horrible.

Back in like 2 years ago I ran the single 3" aerochamber catback on my car and it was really quiet for the first few weeks then got REALLY loud... I'm talkin annoyingly loud for a daily driver. I know since they're chambered mufflers they SHOULDNT get louder with time (compared to fiberglass mufflers) but they did.

Every aerochamber that I've ever heard sounds "muffled" IMHO. That's not to say it sounds bad, but there's no way I'd ever buy one.

....same with magnaflow.

It just depends on how built you have the motor, mainly the cam. One car may sound like crap, while another will sound mean with the same muffler....it just depends. Couple that with everyone else's opinion on what sounds good or like crap and it's hard to judge what muffler sounds best based on what people say on the internet.

Give it a few weeks. Mine was quiet for the first few weeks I had mine. It is quite louder now. Hedders only make it louder.

yeah I have 2055s as well, and my car is almost TOO loud. It was loud with just the catback on too. I don't know what you guys are talking about. Maybe you've got a clogged cat?

My aerochamber cat-back sounded like Flowmasters only without the high-pitchy tiny sound ...if that makes any sense whatsoever. Had that kinda "hollow" chambered sound but was more growly. My dual exhaust with aerochambers sounds the same only 10x louder. 4000RPM and above will wake the dead, yet still sound good ...I hate the sound of open headers and I also hate the sound of "muffled" (like glasspack) sounding cars ...sounds nothing like either.

alright, thanx guys, ill just give it a few weeks then. my dad gave me the idea of dumping gasoline in the inside of the muffler and lighting it so speed up the process but i think i may just use some patience..

Me too... but without a cammed motor, I wonder if it will be too quiet.

... I will be getting a big motor next year, so maybe aerochamber is the way to go.

Should still make it sound nice and much louder than stock once broken in. It did on my stock LO3 at the time.

Here's a sound clip of mine. I'm not running a cat though. The rev it to about 4500 and there is a metallic rattling sound that is my muffler shield (being fixed soon)

i have headers on my 305 with a 327 cam with a high lift with broken thru cat straight back to the muffler..and its really toned down, it doesnt sound anything like what urs sounds like..hmm. i guess i hav to drive it for awhile and see if it gets louder. i mean i noticed a lil difference in the decibel but its just slightly louder then when i first got the exhaust. thanx for all the posts guys, i really appreciate it.

a lot of the noise comes from the lsa/overlap and duration... toss a better cam in that 305, i bet it gets louder!
