Which Spintech
pro street or sportsman street? i'm running duals dumped under the car, 2.5" duals with H pipe pushin around 400 horse...which would be a better set of mufflers? i want it to be loud, but I don't want it to be obnoxious where i wouldn't be able to hold a convo....i'm going with a full cased muffler so i'm pretty positive both of them will be under the obnoxious sound level, so i guess the question is which one is louder???

I had the Pro Streets and they were obnoxious for sure...but they sounded BADASS at wide-open-throttle...no other muffler could compare.

Why Spintech? I have one for my Mufflex system but I consider it the best of two evils available the other being Flowmaster. Speaking from a perfromance point of view of course. IMHO I would look at Magnaflow or Dynomax. They are a straight through design and not all that loud.

Sportsman if you want to talk and you're dumping it under the car. My single 3 inch dumps under the rear seat right now with the pro shootout muffler and it's fuggin loud in the car. When it dumped at the rear bumper, it was fairly quiet inside. Here's a soundclip I did just recently with the microphone behind the car about 10 feet. Sometime this year I'll be running a dual 3 inch setup with the same muffler, maybe dumping again at the rear bumper.

yea mine won't sound quite like that, i got a little bit less of a cam...276HR, but it should still be pretty lumpy....the pro streets are a little quiter than the pro shootouts were, so i think i'll be alright....i think i'm gonna go with the pro streets just because the case is so small...the guy doing my exhaust said to get the smallest case i could find and he said he'll tuck it right up there real nice and everything...so it sounds like the pro street is the way to go..talking to the guy thats doing my exhaust, he's got me so fuggin pumped to fire my car up!!!!

The Pro Streets have a really small case in comparison to a conventional muffler...I imagine they'd work great ina third gen. Only thing is theyre a bit on the tall side....Im not sure if they make a thinner one or not. But theyre very narrow

they are 4x8x12 i think....i'm positve on the 4" height...and that in thin compared to the others like flowcrapper, which have like a 5.5" case....the guy doing my exhaust said the specs for the sportsman streets would be a great choice, but i told him about the pro streets and he said thats excellent...

correction the pro street is 4x6x12.....but i was just about to order my mufflers online, and i found a sound comparison chart, and it looked as if the sportsman street was the louder of the two...i was under the impression the pro street was the loudest muffler they got...also this might sound like a dumb question, but how the hell do i order my mufflers??? i don't see a BUY IT NOW, or put your cart thing anywhere...do i have to call to order or what???

i read the articles about each muffler, the pro street said designed for the street, but had great results in the racing industry...then the sportsman street says it was designed as a race muffler, but was to quiet so they turned it into a premiere street muffler...isn't that saying the sportsman street is louder? now i'm kinda in a bind, which should I get?? I want it to be loud and still sound like a spintech.....i don't want it to be obnoxious to the point it doesn't really have a unique sound to it at all...

no its gonna be LT headers, no cats, dual 2.5's to a x pipe, then keep going and dump through dual 2.5" mufflers right before the rear axle under rear seat pans...

I too am about to go the duals route and I'm stuck between the Spintech and Hooker Aerochamber.
Doing the Hedman LT's into duals with an X pipe and dumps at the axel.
Like you I want loud but not abnoxious.
Something else I'm considering are the Edelbrock RPM series mufflers. Jegs lists there size as 3 5/8"x 7 1/8" and 15" long plus there stainless so they'll last.
At 3 5/8" thick there thinner than Spintech or Hooker which should aid in ground clearence.
I plan on cutting out the sumps in the floorpan under the back seats and removeing a couple inches of there depth and welding them back in so the mufflers will be setting pretty high but I still want the thinnest case mufflers I can find without sacraficeing performance or sound quality.
Kinda waiting to see which muffler you choose to aid in me makeing my decision.

i got 2 pro street 2.5"ers coming....i'll prolly get a sound clip within the next few weeks....i talked to the guy when i called a little bit, he said the sportsman streets are a little quiter than say a 40 series 2 chamber, and he said the pro streets are considerably louder than the 2 chamber 40's...so i'm pretty excited to hear this one

the pro streets are a decendant of the pro shootout...i believe the pro streets are a bit quiter than the pro shootouts...but the pro streets are single in/out mufflers...how are ya thinking your gonna run some of them with cats? I think it'll sound alright...i mean everybody will tell ya 90 percent of your exhaust note comes from your motor, so you can't expect much out of a 305...

oh i see...just have a single oulet out back, then run a 3" dynomax intermediate pipe and overaxle pipe and run a single 3" pro street...that would be nice....i don't think they make the pro shootout any more...i think the pro street took its place, correct me if i'm wrong....

klub15, the 305 had a CompCams 256H cam and I think at the time of the recording, a torker II intake and a Holley 670.
camaro86, I've never heard those mufflers so can't say.

mine isn't fired up yet...tomorrow sounds like the day!!!! its ready!!!! so maybe i'll post on here if everything goes good...i think its gonna be pretty damn loud, but I think it'll be bearable...those spiral's dont' sound that good, and they are basically straight pipes, theres no muffler design to them...if you dont' want loud, stay away from those.....

yes they will set off alarms...it doesn't take much to set off alarms...i could set off alarms with my 96 monte carlo z34 with a 3.4 V6 straight piped with dual 3.5" exits.....i mean it doesn't take much....cop trouble, all depends on how you drive it...if you go past a cop taching at 4 grand, off coarse you are gonna get pulled over and probably written up...if you see a cop, don't be a dumb*ss...just let go of the gas and just let it coast or idle....

yes....single systems with a single in/out muffler will flow way better than a full catback with a crossflow muffler....
I don't know why your worrying about it so much, a good catback like a hooker won't restrict you till you get over like 400-450 horse....and even than it'll restrict you a couple horses...i don't know what you have for plans on your car, but pick yourself up a decent catback or something and don't worry about which flows better etc etc....because they all flow about generally the same, just some better than others...
