Questions about Hooker AeroChambers

I have finished the engine rebuild and installed the Hooker 2055's and Y-Pipe all Jet Hot sterling coated! I need to replace the muffler and thought I would go with the Hooker AeroChamber muffler.

I have 3" pipe all the way back to the muffler and 3" coming out from the muffler. I can't seem to find the right muffler that has 3" inlet and 3" dual outlet. The closest I have come to finding that is this one listed on Summit: Hok-21729HKR

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

The problem is that this is only 2 1/2" outlet.

Is this ok to put on my car or do I need to get 3" outlet? I am in an area where I don't know all that much at all about the flow and such of the mufflers. I know that I want a deep, rich tone to the muffler.

What do you all suggest if I can't get that out of this muffler or find one that has a dual 3" outlet?

Thanks,

Pat

Re: Questions about Hooker AeroChambers

you really don't need it, but I think flowmaster makes one with the 3 inch dual out, but you will have to call them. I know that spintech makes one with up to a 4 inch dual outlet. You can go to the spintech website. I think the muffler is like 130 and they call make the tailpipes as well.

the hooker t-pipes maybe a bit smaller than the 3" flowmaster tips, but the hooker system flows way better overall. i always loved the way the hooker rolled tips look coming out the back of a thirdgen.

Re: Questions about Hooker AeroChambers

Well I went ahead and ordered the Hooker aerochamber muffler from Summit. Here is the one I bought:

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=HOK-21729HKR

What do you all think of this muffler? Seem like a good one?

I hope this one will work fine. BTW, I measured my pipes coming from my current muffler (the tips) and they are 2 1/2" and my pipes going to the muffler are 3" Now, I just need to decide on which tips to put on!

Thanks everyone,

Pat

Re: Questions about Hooker AeroChambers

Have you recieved it/installed it? If so, can you post some sound clips? I'm very interested in buying the Hooker AeroChambers myself, but I haven't heard them on a thirdgen yet...

Re: Questions about Hooker AeroChambers

Yes, I did receive it and had it installed this last Friday. I will definitely get some sound clips posted, but it will be a couple days as I'm out of town. As soon as I get back, I will get some posted.

I will say that I really like this muffler and it sounds great. I have 3" pipe from the cat back and the hooker 2055 headers jet sterling coated. I also bought the magnaflow stainless tips and they look great!

Thanks,

Pat

Re: Questions about Hooker AeroChambers

Thanks! I am pretty pleased with it and still have a little fine tuning to do with the motor and timing, but she's running pretty well. I will get some pics and sound clips up as soon as possible.

Thanks to everyone here for all the help and guidance and of course opinions!

Pat

Re: Questions about Hooker AeroChambers

I've had 3 different pairs of mufflers on my car, Dynomax, Flowmaster 40's and Aerochambers. By far, the Hookers sounded the best.
