i think the '02 station wagon looks pretty sweet, but the other ones don't do anything for me. i don't know what is worse - this pick up firebird or when hillbillys put f-bodies on 4x4 frames.

nice fab job though, kinda slick....

I can't grasp the 3rd and 4th gen wagon conversions... That for stereo stuff or something?

and yea, the 2nd gen wagon was prototyped by GM... then realized there is NO DESIRE FOR A SPORTS "WAGON"...... fast forward ~20 years, and dodge seems to think it's a good idea, hint, "magnum".... toyota matrix... ugh!

I think just made them to make them...I know a guy that took a 5th generation vette and made it into a 4 door...he cut 2 vette's in half and welded them together. it was pretty cool. he took a lot of time with it. he sold it for 60,000

don't know about the 2nd gen, but the 86TA is actualy an early GTA prototype (note the nose badge) made BY PONTIAC and shown at carshows. it was called the "camback wagon" and thankfully never saw production. for more information visit THE GTA SOURCE PAGE - THE HOME For The Trans Am GTA Enthusiast....

That one looks like it was a rather easy job. I saw one pick-up conversion that was a '91 Corvette. THAT is a hard one.

Sounds like he lost a lot of money on that deaL unless he bought 2 wrecked vettes... even then he lost money.

I was seriously thinking about making my car into an ElCamaro when I started hacking it up to remove the rear glass. It would have been different. I finally figured it wasn't worth it and just stuck a piece of Lexan in for a back window.

Nobody noticed that the "truck", is either a Camaro with a Pontiac nose (most likely), or a Pontiac with Camaro rear quarters?

In a way, it's not a bad idea (sorta), but very poorly executed. Ditch the fins, fix the, ?tailgate?, I guess that's what that was supposed to be.

Lets dont forget these 3rd gen car bodys are a plentiful $200 item. I wouldnt question any one who chooses to chop up or modify any of these cars. You may like the results, you may not.

They actually sold new pickup thirdgens here in Norway back in the eighties. It happened because they wanted to to use a loophole in the tax regulation stating that any pickup only had to pay 10% of the new car tax, which was about 100% on top of the purchase price back then.

They were probably built by a third party, but it was alot better executed than this freak, Also, you could get a louver thing to cover the bed, so it looked exactly the same as a coupe with louvers.

The bed was almost totally unusable for carrying anything though. Just think how shallow the rear compartment is when you open the hatch. THey even did this to Porsche's at the same time. The loophole was quickly shut, I think just the next year they had a rule about the minimum volume or size for the bed on pickups.

Looked ok though, and got a good number of thirdgens into the country, and all of them could be converted to coupe after 10 years for free.
