Full fram insert for 3rd gen camaro.

I have a 84 Camaro Z28 that I had a little boo boo with and now the front end is shot on it. I was looking at dimensions of a S10 frame and think it would fit into the mechanics of the body. But my question is, is there a frame that will fit better that will work width wise? I am able to do shortening of the frame so that it will fit but even the S10 wheelbase width is a half of an inch short of being as wide and not happy with that. I have looked on several forums and stuff but all just have people saying put in SFC when that will not fix my problem.

interesting thought , not sure it could be done with out VERY DEEP pockets . I do know the S-10 frames are used on SHOEBOX ford's [1949-51] and SLED MERC'S . would like to hear reply's . good luck .

I will be sure to let everyone know how it turns out. And the cost is not that much to insert if you find someone with a straight frame it just about straight forward just a lot of labor.

Probably going to be more expensive and labour-intensive than just getting another clean F-body.

I can get another one but even with doing that it wont fix my issue with both the damage to the car and what I want to do with it.

What do u want to do with it? Unless its rock crawling or something there is nothing you can do with the factory body and typically subframe connectors and roll cage. Adding the s10 frame will only add weight and complexity.

The body is damaged where the frame bolts up?

frames can be modified...

the mustang i posted had the rocker panels welded to the frame. so.. technically... its a unibody..lol.

now.. none of this is to say it isnt a LOT of work to do and get done right. you would have to cut out a lot for the camaro body to sit correctly.

Re: Full fram insert for 3rd gen camaro.

I spend a lot of time on Pro-Touring and Lat-G. What you have proposed is not an uncommon thing (I started building a new frame for a first gen camaro a while ago and cannot find the time to work on it, what with my job and my third gen and all).
However, if performance is your goal you want to use something other than the S10 frame. Cheap may be good, but they are crap for suspension geometry.
