The only reason why I asked, navycm, was because I wanted to buy these cragar 397 series from summit, but then I saw all these different rim sizes and I don't know which one would fit now. could you help me by seeing on summitracing which 397 series rim would fit my car. I feel like an idiot.

Your going to need to know backspacing. Take the wheel off and lay it on a flat surface w/ the back side(the side that faces the brakes) facing up. Then take a straight edge and lay it across the wheel and measure down to the mounting pad. You may have to deflat the tire to do this. That measurement is your backspacing.

Re: stock rim size?

I'm tired of looking all over the place, what is the freakin bolt pattern of a 89 IROC Camaro? The reason I ask is that I've found 315 tires and I'm working on a custom rim for them and need to know what the bolt pattern is and backspacing. Thanks!

Re: stock rim size?

A 315 won't fit under a 3rd gen wheel well anyways. It'll stick out. It'll hit your LCAs, inner sheet metal. Lots of stuff in the way, unless you are planning on back-halfing the car, for them to fit.

I had bought an 86 IROC in the past that already had 315's on there with a stock body and they did not stick out, the were flush with the sides of the body.

But anyways what is the stock bolt pattern and backspacing for an 89 IROC?

Thank you!

Re: stock rim size?

I don't see how 315's could fit without a deeper backspace, minitubs, or wheel spacers. I just put 275/60/r15s on my 89. The tires rubbed on the body until I beat the inner fender in with an eight pound sledge. Even now i only have about 3/4" clearance. 315's are 4cm wider or ~1.5" wider.

Re: stock rim size?

On my 92 RS, I had BFG 295/50R16's on my stock 16"x8"s, and never rubbed inner or outer. The tire fit fine. No cupping. a 9" wide wheel might have been better, but I had no problems.

A 275/60...That is a tall tire and has a section width of 11". I bet you had a lot less BS. That much section width, on a tall that tall, I'm not real surprised you had rubbing issues. The higher you get in the wheel well, the narrower it gets.
