Re: 1982 Trans Am question please ask

Sounds like Knight Rider tax. Early thirdgens are a headache. Keep saving money while you look, at $15k that car isn't going anywhere fast..

Hi, Drew thanks for writing I am looking to make it a Knight Rider car/daily driver car along with a different engine and other things it's very rare to come across an 82 really mint and no rust from what I can tell. I do want to make him an offer but I really don't know what 82 with does mile's and shape sells for thanks.

Good luck. From what I understand all the KITT mods make KITT clones miserable to actually drive.

Excellently put!

If you do a full-blown KITT replica with everything, it really becomes more of a museum piece. It takes some getting used to getting in and out without snagging your jacket on something, scratching paint, etc... The steering wheel takes getting used to. You are constantly reminding any passengers to not touch anything and don't use the dash as a handle when getting in and out, etc... The only way you will get actual engine readings in the dash is to buy the $3,000.00 version of electronics like I did, otherwise you rely on blocks of LED light to tell you engine temp, oil pressure, fuel etc.. and good luck with that!

Mine is only driven to car shows and cruise-ins and the occasional Sunday drive in the country, otherwise I'm cruising my lightly modified 89 base Firebird when I really want to enjoy driving a thirdgen and without too much attention. If you plan on this being your daily driver, it won't be for long. You will buy another vehicle. Trust me, and you'll continue converting your car to KITT for the next few years and it will eventually become show only. Don't get me wrong, I love my KITT replica, but it is not practical as a daily driver, not in the least.

Re: 1982 Trans Am question please help

Thanks, kentuckykitt for the input I should have put that the replica that am looking to do is not going to be 100 percent show accurate while the outside and the seats are.The dash and steering wheel am looking at more of a modern look instead of the accurate show look I would love to see pictures of your replica thanks.
