That car is the October feature on my web site of you want more info. Notice at the end of the ad they even link to my Firehawk page

You can see my Firehawk for sale on that site too, I'd only sell it though if someone was crazy enough to pay me that much I emailed them and had them make some corrections to my cars ad but there are still a few mistakes.....

beautiful car, quite rediculous what they go for though.

there was a teal one here at slp that was for sale over a year ago for 18,000 or best; granted it wasn't a 383 either though. definately nice and i could see why some would want to pay that much. cheaper to build your own though.

Big runners on the intake plenum look killer, but this is a textbook example of how the shorter, (in this case...I can't see 'em!! hehe) the better the car will perform.

TPIS is another company, besides SLP of course, that offers good induction improvements for the F-cars.

The 383 cars didn't come with the T-ram. I was always under the impression that the only cars that got the 383 were the 2 race-only cars and not a street version like this one. I also thought that those 2 race cars had a custom intake, not a miniram. I'm no expert though.

For 40k, it could be cleaner and have less scratch marks and such under the hood. I also didnt realize 91's had the large cap distributor, or is that something SLP swapped?

AFAIK, all formulas had the large cap distributer. For whatever reason, GM never put the divorced coil distributers into them.

Never made sense to me... but that's what they did.

That is the one SLP had for sale and yes it was a 383, and I do not think they sold it for 18k, closer to 25k if I remember correctly.

Sounds fishy to me too. I thought all of them got the "divorced" coil due to the space limitations w/TPI

Car: 1991 Formula
Engine: 350 firebreathing inches of Small Block Chevrolet
Transmission: A 700R4 that has trouble handling the formentioned 350.
The reason it sounds fishy is because it's not true. The TPI always used the divorced coil. The TPI distributor sheild will not fit over a self contained coil distributor and Formula's do have the sheild.

Now the question is why the h*ll did SLP put a self contained coil on the Firehawk?? Or did someone else put that on the engine??????

Later, Garrett

I'm guessing the new intake didn't have room for the bracket that the remote coil attatches to. And since the mini ram has room for the cap-in-coil, they went with it.

Didn't GM switch all F bodies to remote coil in 87?

Awesome car...why only 375 horse though if the 350 has 360 horse?

Wrong answer. 1985-1986 TPI cars use the coil-in-cap distributor. The plenum extension clears the coil just fine. GM changed to the divorced coil in 87 for the Fbody.

BTW every formula should have a divorced coil, mine does as did the other 91-92's I've looked at and the 89 I almost bought.

This is a comment on that Firehawk #27... the ragtop with roll cage. I saw that article from High Performance Pontiac that I was looking for already on your site! (Fair Weather Firehawk)

I still can't find the magazine and I know I bought it! How frustrating! It is one of the baddest 3rd Gens ever...no question!

I guess I need to do more research. I read somewhere that the formulas kept the big distributer, which I always found odd. I guess I need to find where I read that and double check it.

But as for the big cap not fitting with TPI... that's hog wash. ALL TPI corvettes, along with all 85-86 TPI f-bodies had the big cap.

great car

The Firehawks are great cars but desperately over priced. I saw a red Firehawk auctioned in last years Barrett-Jackson it went for $18k whichis about right. The web page posted has a red one for sale at $79k wahahahahahaha one is born every day eh ?

I bought my '91 with 42,000 miles on it and all the factory goodies back in 2001 for $4000 USD. How in the world do you justify $79,000 for a Firehawk ?

my .02 cents worth,
RP.

Just because one moron wants $80k for his Firehawk doesn't mean it's worth that.

$18k... that it's worth. Comparing it to your 305 Formula is like comparing a 69 RS camaro to a 69 Yenko. Same car, right? Why is the Yenko worth 10x as much? Supply and demand.

$4k for your 40k mile Formula is still a hell of a deal tho.

Hey man, I'm the MORON that's asking $79K for his Firehawk AND my Firehawk is the SAME car that sold at Barrett-Jackson for $22K this last January.

I'm asking that much simply because I do not want to sell it but for that price, anything is for sale ****, if some moron did pay me that much I'd be able to buy 2 Firehawks, one to store and one to drive the living **** out of

Now do I believe my car is worth that much, HELL NO! I do however believe that it is worth $35K and I would NEVER take any less than that......

If it was worth $35k, I suspect that you wouldn't have been able to acquire it for $22k.

I was just reading a muscle car history book, and it said firehawks were priced at 40 grand and could cost as much as $50,000.
