IROC vs Ferrari article
IROC vs Ferrari article
G'day...A mate of mine was telling me the other day that there was once an article printed in one of the US car magazines many years ago, comparing the 85 IROC to the ferrari of the time whatever that was.
He said that the IROC came out the clear winner in the many different catagories that these cars were put through.
Does anyone know of this article? and if so could they post it here.

I don't have info on the article, but it might have won based on the "bang for the buck" scenario. The Ferrari might have won in a bunch of categories, but the question comes up if the performance difference is worth the extra $$ for the Ferrari.

I suspect the V8 version used in Magnum PI. The reintroduced Testerossa came along in 1984/5 and it gave Ferrari much needed fuel.
They have their share of classics but I am not sure on the handling comparison... The V12s have more power but larger wheelbase. I don't recall this subject in the mags I had.

I don't know the price range but these weren't really assembly line cars... exotics don't really equate closly in cost or quality but they don't fix cheap either! (not to mention weather permitting driving or speed limits hehe) Now one can be had for about $30K... The same price for a Lotus Esprite (sp?)

Since it's a Chevy magazine and a Camaro, I have to wonder why the Firebird is again left out...What's the difference there?
I've felt the bird is a better aero shape for one thing. Also comment was made about Baer being better then Brembo brakes (w/ kit?) I thought both companies offer excellent performance brakes.
There was a recent article in Automobile mag about the special ceramic [?] brakes offered in a new 911 [optional feature] for around $6000 or so... super spendy but super effective system... Too bad the best stuff is always $$$$
