Strange 83 T/A Vin #...

Can anyone exlpain this vin#? *IF* its a real L69 car (it does have the fan, and is a 5 spd). Why is the 8th digit a 7 instead of a G?

Its also obvious, that the car has had paint work.

Not to mention we cant see the tach or other gauges.

A friend has a real 83 L69, so I know what they are supposed to be. (one of 662, not 200)

I belive that is correct, in

1982
7 = LU5

1983
7 = L69
S = LU5

1984 - 86
G = L69

Thanks John, I did not know the code for the L69 in 83 was a "7". I just figured it was a "G" like the other years. D'oh!

I see it has the LU5 hood, where the hood duct meets the air cleaner is square instead of round.

Or at least the intake part is from an LU5...

I noticed that too... did not know what to think about it...

I'll add, along with what else has been pointed out as being wrong, that the wheel center caps should say "PONTIAC", instead of the bird. It has later model front seats, and the map pouch has the Trans Am and Bird on it.

And yes, I know a little about 83s

Leon.

Thanks Dan.

I can always count on you for some interesting 82-84 Firebird/Trans Am trivia. Keep them coming

Leon.
