No they (The Firestone Firehawk series cars) were not tube frame although the GTO car was...I have some pictures at home of that car and can post later.
My cars were built by Bill Michell (Special Vehicle Developments). Bill Mitchell was a GM engineer (much like his famous namesake!) who built the IROC Camaro's in the 70's in a partnership with Mark Donohue. Mitchell continued after Mark's death and eventually went on to do the 1LE testing & development under contract w/ GM.
Here's some more pics...

I can't imagine that all of these cars have been scrapped?

There is a 3 picture limit, however, because of the nature of these, we'll keep 'em. If they could be hosted on another site and linked here as larger images, that would be great. The small images don't really show much detail.

Thanks for leaving these up past the three limit amount...
There are very few of these original cars left. I still own our first one - and actually restored it back to original and did a couple of car shows with it this year (Old Town Kissimee Chevy Show, and Amelia Island Concours).
We're in the process of getting our business website up & running so check there soon and I'll host some more racing pictures, history, etc. on it... Here's the site:
