Heritage Edition Camaro???? Help me!!!
Heritage Edition Camaro???? Help me!!!
Hey everyone, im new to this forum, but i have read these forums for about 3 hours or so looking for a "for sure" answer to my question. If you guys can help me, please do...
OK, here we go...
On 08/27/05, my father decided that he was gonna sell his 92 camaro rs 25th anniversary. (for some reason it had 25th anniversary on the side of the car on the part beside your left ear, it was a sticker on the paint that looked factory, the reason i waste my time typing this, is because i've looked all over the internet and i've never seen this before, if u know anything about this tell me) now on with my story.
My father bought this car in feb 1994 from a Chevrolet dealer in Louisville, Ky. for 12,500 . Come to find out (by searching thru the paperwork in the compartment in the rear of the hatch) He wasnt the first owner. The first owner had purchased this car in 1992 for 18,605.40 in Alabama.
So when i found out this car was for sale, i was highly interested because of the condition, very nice, never wrecked, beautiful interior, garage kept, oil changed every 2500, etc.. and the main reason, Its my dads car that i grew up riding around in with the t-tops out, and i went with him to pick it out in 94. I was currently on my 2nd Mustang GT 5.0, 1st was a 90 5-speed, 2nd was a 93 gt auto, and i knew someone that loved my car cause it was in good condition, and maintained well thru the years, but when i found out my dad was selling his car for 3500!!!! I immediately called a friend and asked if he wanted to buy the mustang, and he did , as i gave him a good deal.
First thing i did was take the sticker off the side"25th anniversary" because i didn't think it was anything but a wax catcher. A year or so goes by and some stupid idiot grrrrr i was so mad, backed into the passenger door of it while it was parked at work. Insurance gave me 1200.00 just to fix the door and by friends thought that it was outrageous. This was recent, i still haven't found someone that i can trust to fix the door to my standards so im still looking. This car is almost immaculant besides a couple scratches on the front ground effect from them stupid parking blocks that they make 12" high.
After the lady backed into my car I was interested in how much it booked for, adn i went to KBB and was very offended by what it said on there, so i went elsewhere, and i found NADA. So i fill in the blanks, and then find the heritage edition box(so i checked it) and was surprised at the results-
Low RetailAverage Retail ValueHigh RetailBase Price$7,625$10,900$13,550TOTAL PRICE$7,625$10,900$13,550
Now, I read untill i got yelled at by the other half, and then i took what i found out and went and looked at my car(had to roll the windows up anyways) But heres the results.
25th Anniversary on the dash with RS above it in front of the passenger seat.
Front grille same color as the body Which is black w/ red stripes on hood and decklid)
No plate on the back hatch at all as in the picture shown of the red one with the plate on the back hatch. (maybe the dealer removed it, or it didn't come with it)
So today i was looking to buy a motorcycle, and for some odd reason i was asking all my buddies if they wanted to buy my camaro, all said no, which is fine, i was just excited to get a few dollars, and glad i didn't sell it for what i was asking. I told them 2900.00 and was turned down, and i was fine with that cause it's worth more than that to me anyways. I always told everyone i was gonna keep the car forever anyways.
I need to know how i can find out if this model is the "Heritage Edition".
I've looked thru all the paperwork left in the car from 1992, but nothing says anything about that.

Can someone please help me find out the truth. I'm tired of my friends that work at car lots laughing at me when i tell them what NADA says.
I will upload pictures to this asap.
Thanks for your time.

Re: Heritage Edition Camaro???? Help me!!!
Look at the SPID label in the rear compartment and look for Z03. Also, does the rear spoiler have the metal 25th anniversary plate? Not really a good basis on the metal plate since they can be bought, but most people have not purchased them for a non Heritage car.
Re: Heritage Edition Camaro???? Help me!!!
People always make a big deal about the 25th anniversary emblem on the dash. The funny part is that every 92 Camaro got that emblem.
The heritage package is more unusual, but it's still just cosmetic.

thanks for the comment, i love it. I get all kinds of looks, well not many from the rice burner generation, but from the real racers and collectors.
How much do u think i should sell this for if the right offer came across??
Everyone that downs my car says i will only get like 2800.00. But i would never sell it for that low of a price.

first of all keep it, because the value will only go up, the value on my sc has gone up a lot in the last 2 years. drews prices are right, i got my sc in nice shape with 69k for 1900...original 65 year old owner...
Re: Heritage Edition Camaro???? Help me!!!
Oh yea, not selling this car. I can't beleive someone would say that they would sell it for 2500 for quick cash. This car is almost perfect besides the milage, but 177,??? miles for a 92 isn't bad at all, i know a guy with a 97 maxima with over 350,000.

I've been looking at getting some wheels for this car, but im very picky. I was interested in the corvette z06 wheels, and was just about to buy a set, then my pickyness came in. I'm looking for something like a 20", that looks sorta like the z06, but with more dish, i want a dish thats at least 1 1/2" but i don't want to order something that will rub the wells, how big, and wide can i go with a rim that has a nice size lip before i start to rub?

Re: Heritage Edition Camaro???? Help me!!!
I had a very good feeling that wasn't a heritage edition because just look at the stripes on the hood. They are much larger and off center then original heriatge stripes. Still a sharp car though.

Re: Heritage Edition Camaro???? Help me!!!
no offense but anything over 18 looks semi rediculous on a 3rd gen. unless your tupac or something...
i agree with the dish, its nice, but 20 is a little much, you stock wheels stripped and polished look sharp with nice tires, thats what i did.... Re: Heritage Edition Camaro???? Help me!!!
i represent that remark and as voted one of the top wheels featured in popular hotrodding i don't think anyone considers my 19's to represent tupac or any other thug of our time.
regardless and on to the point the fact is you have a 1992 rs with very high mileage. this thing that 170k miles isn't high is a farse. however that's not to say you can't have a car with that type of mileage in good shape if it's all been redone.
without looking at the car the price range street value is 1-2.5k depending on the overall condition and if it has been restored or in the process the price goes up from there. if it has not been restored and just the usual maintenace of putting oil/gas and new tires/brakes every so often then a low 2k car at best.
those cars were a dime a dozen, the best thing in the thirdgen heritage you have going for it is the fact that it's a 92 as they had the most gm updates for the thirdgen bloodline. the color combination is a bit rare so if it's been restored to good shape when it's repainted that's also a plus which can help you get more money. there is no original factory paint thirdgen ever with good or mint paint that has 170k miles.
a 5k mileage car no longer has mint paint on it. i'm not sure what you typed into nada but a 170k car won't bring that type of money on it using any car value website.
nice car all the same but not worth much without restoration and even then it isn't a model that is sought after. so hold on to it, enjoy it or sell it as it's only worth what someone will pay. remember the only thirdgens that are pulling over 10k are 91-92 L98's with low mileage or convertibles of the same. while the occasional iroc hits a high mark they aren't being savored as mony had thought they would but only time will tell and we still have another 5-10 years before we see any real advance.
