I got a camaro for 700.00 i know its a iroc its got the stock "wonderbar" and the door jam states 16 in rims but its a rebilt title and theres no vin int the window nor is the rpo sheet in the center nor is there in the hatch nor under the hood its got a il state police vin in the door but every thing else is gone how do i track down the org vin #

 

find something on the panels. There should be a sticker on every panel, they probably scratched doors and hood, there is one on each bumper cover, as well as the original impact bars underneath the bumper covers (something they probably did not get to), along with stickers in each front fender, as well as the rear fenders i believe. Should be a sticker on the hatch as well. If i'm not mistaken, i thought the engine or transmission had the vin on it too, but maybe it's just the last 6, not sure.

If you haven't figured it out by now, when i say sticker, i mean there should be a long sticker with the vin number on it. Good luck finding it!

The sticker issue began in 87 so he may have additional issues locating the VIN.

 

the sequence number (last 6 digits) are stamped into the firewall on the engine side behind your heater box. Those 6 digits and the year could very well be enough to have the right person look up the rest of your VIN.

 

so do i have to pull the heater box off (im doing that anyways) and it will be right there.......also i have some numbers on the firewall behind the dist but there scratched out in the middle

 

Ok that ILL STATE VIN PLATE in your door frame is your NEW vin plate because the one from the dash was damaged or stolen. At my job we deal with this all the time and have the state here once a month replaceing vin plates from stolen cars.
You will have to find the secondary vin (will have to ask the state where it is hidden)
I would expect if you can't find a vin anywhere but in your door plate your car was once was a stolen recovery. PM me if you have any more questions maybe can have the state guy take a look at it if your really needing the vin verified

Yes, it's fairly large and you can't miss it when you remove the heater box.

 

The VIN should also be on the Drivers side door sticker... the decal stating that it conforms to... at the bottom

I am not sure if this is the same as 1986 tho, this is from my 1987...

You could pull the carpet up many have build sheets under the carpet, mine had the vin on it, and a sticker on every panel.
