Did not give up

I bought my car last January, at first it did not seem to be that much of a problem to try & get it back as original as possible. But the more I got into it the bigger problems arose & I was almost to the point of just unloading it & eat my losses. With the help of the different message boards on this site I was able to replace what the previous owner(s) messed up & now the car is able to be driven. I still need to do the normal interior work door panels, seats & carpet & have it repainted. I know I will never get the money that I put into it but in the long run I think in all it was worth it.

Thanks

Re: Did not give up

I actually found my first car after 20 years of searching. I too am working towards repairing things that the original owner thought was the right way to do things. I want to keep my car as stock as I can on the exterior, but under the hood...I want it to be PISSED OFF! I have been searching the messages boards to do all my research and have found them to be extremely informative. How bout we see some pics of your car?

If you go into this expecting to get the money out of it you put in, prepare for disappointment. Consider it a hobby, and like any other, it will cost you.

Re: Did not give up

That is the absolute truth, we are all in that boat. You won't even break even.

But its fun to do, and rewarding to drive on a nice sunny day. Fun to take to car shows and meet new people, make new friends, and perhaps get a trophy ... or award. Spend time with others etc etc/kids, teach them how to fix these forever breaking cars .... Priceless !!

Like any other hobby - keeps us out of the bars. LOL

Re: Did not give up

You have to spend your extra cash on something, might as well be your car.
