Got mine back
I sold my 83 Z 28 in 1990 in order to put myself through college. 23.5 years later I got one back. It's an auto, I had a 5 speed. It has some wear., But, I found a solid foundation for a project. The PO bought the car new and sold it to someone else 3 months ago. I bought it for a great price on e-bay. It's very original down to the period correct dry rotted tires. My question is this. Where do you guys find your parts? I need among other things badges, grill inserts, stripes, head liners and dash pads. Not sure what direction this will take. But, glad to be back

Re: Got mine back
Welcome back! Very nice car, looks like it's been taken care of! You'll find this site full of useful information if you search for it. There is a classifieds section here where you may be able to find some of the things you are looking for. If you are short on time and need or want everything right now, there are a few vendors that have a lot of the parts that you mentioned.

Parts:
Founders control arms, panhard arm, relocation bracket, strut mounts : http://www.foundersperformance.com/c...ro-F%252dBody/
Lately, I have been using Jegs because there website is easy to get price matching. Obviously, I take my time to compare options and search pricing.
Recommended cheap fixes:
1. HVAC Switch Vacuum Fix - https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/inte...anent-fix.html - Worked like a charm
2. Trip Odometer Fix - https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/faq-...-fix-pics.html - Worked like a charm

Re: Got mine back
I live in PA & we'll have snow for the next 4 months. So, I have time to plan. VA inspection ran out last month. I was shocked how badly the tires are dry rotted. I'm surprised I made the 4 hour drive home last week. 1st up tires and suspension. Everything shook and rattled on the bumps. Then paint next spring. Interior next. I'm not sure after that. Do I keep it close to stock & original or swap out the running gear to something modern?

Re: Got mine back
From the pics you posted, the paint looks pretty decent. I bet a decent body shop or auto detailer could buff/polish and have it looking decent for well under $200.

I have an 83 parts car, so let me know what you might need. And I looked at that when it was on eBay.

Very nice Harvey! Minus the trans, our cars could be twins. Welcome back to the 3rd gen fold. I can't wait to watch your car comeback to it's former glory!
