3 Very Nice 3rd Gens at Mecum KC

Mecum KC has 2 Camaro's and 1 GTA

Thursday it starts with this 1991 Camaro 5.0L z28 5 speed Convertible

Next on Thursday a very nice 1991 GTA 5.7L Automatic with 68K

The best is last. A "125 MILE" 1990 Camaro IROC Z Automatic

No That's not a "typo". 125 total miles!

That's the one that caught my eye. They didn't give the mileage, but it looks too good to be to many.

Agreed. Gotta have a manual transmission in a convertible. If you like engine sound, you can hear it way better without all that bodywork behind your head. With a manual you can squeeze the throttle as you're approaching the sweet spot or let it burble on overrun.

The 125 mile Camaro was owned by owner and CEO of Deffenbaugh industries the garbage king of the midwest. He had quite a collection of cars. His house was across the road from the landfill. A 43 million dollar home! All his cars were at the house I believe. I wonder if it comes with a air freshener?

Re: 3 Very Nice 3rd Gens at Mecum KC

The convertible was stolen for $5500

There must be something not right with the car to go for so little... Or there was just not enough people there on Thursday to pull any money...

My guess is the GTA sells for around $8-10K and the Z28 around $15-20K

The GTA did not sell at $7500. I know I've said this before, but if you are looking for a great deal for a 3rd Gen, the midwest is where I would look. Trashed cars sell the same everywhere, but nice ones get very little love here. KC, Des Moines, Omaha and Oklahoma City offer great deals consistently.

In Michigan it seems that Firebirds and Camaros sell for roughly the same, you go to other places like South Carolina and it seems Camaros sell for more than Firebirds... Location makes a difference...

What did it sell for?

It's a Bid Go's On. Last bid was $7500 for the GTA.

Sometimes I can read a question only to sit and ponder how I forgot that once so important fact... I realize after several minutes of thinking that I probably forgot 20 seconds before reading the question. I move on, only to wake up in the middle of the night to completely recall the once lost answer, at which point I go to the bathroom, return to my bed and try to go back to sleep.

The 125 Mile 1990 Camaro sold for $26,500. I was surprised it got that much. Probably the highest price ever for a 3rd gen at Mecum in KC.

Right now I think is the beginning... kind of where 2nd gens were 5 years ago...

I know where a nice 2nd gen is for sale for $7500 it is a Black 77 TA

The surprising one for me was the Camaro 5 speed Convertible. I thought it would have got more. Of coarse they didn't list any mileage either, It could have been 150k car. I wanted to go but didn't have time to go down.

Re: 3 Very Nice 3rd Gens at Mecum KC

Over this last year alone I've noticed the increase in prices. Its easy to get confused by some prices you see for nice looking cars until you read the ad's. Most nice looking cars that are cheap or reasonable have been modified under the hood. Most hot rods with non traditional engines I've seen have been hovering around the 3-6k range. They also take forever to sell. There are 4 cars I have seen around KC since last summer. All the bodies look to be in great shape, but have home built motors. Each month the price drops another $500 - $1000 and they are still there.
