I went to the junkyard this weekend and as i was browsing i came across this rather unusual third gen. First off, it had a white viny top but the rest of the car was blue. Second i looked at the gas gauge and instead of being from empty to full it was 0 to 16 gallons. What i mean is that that was how the gauge face was labeled. Finally, and this really threw me, the car had a clock in the floor console. It looked like it was supposed to be their but did they ever make third gens with clocks. Not sure of the exact year of the car but it was before 85 definetly. Also, the three center gauges were in this weird three quarter shape. Was this car supposed to be this way?

1985 Berlinetta 2.8L, Auto
1991 RS 5.0 TBI, Auto- Flowmaster exhaust w/ chrome tips, cat removed, 3 in. open element K&N air filter.

 

Everything about that car sounds normal for 82-83, and probably 84. Except the vinyl top, thats not stock and just lets us know the previous owner was a little off the track.

 

I have a suggestion for your future trips to the boneyard. Take a digital camera (if you can) and get the vin number of the car. I snapped a couple of pic's the last time out of cars or parts I hadn't seen before. The console clock was an option on cars that didn't have a clock in the radio. I've picked up a few. Lon

 

I have a clock in the console on my 85 Iroc.

 

My 83 Camaro has a console clock too!

 

where does the clock go?

 

Its where the buttons for the windows and hatch are.

 

My 85 IROC has the clock as well (According to the White Book, there were only 800 or so put in cars that year).
