Hello. After years apart, I'm back in a low mile 3rd gen.
History / OriginalityGot a question about 1982-1992 Camaro or Firebird history? Have a question about original parts, options, RPO codes, when something was available, or how to document your car? Those questions, answers, and much more!
Hello. After years apart, I'm back in a low mile 3rd gen.
Back in the spring of '84 I bought a slightly used '83 z28. Black, t-tops, pretty well loaded. Got married in the late 80's and drove it until our daughter was born in the early 90's. Couldn't see putting her in the back seat in a baby seat so we sold the car. Age old story, shouldn't sell the cars you really love. Been looking for one like it for a long time.
This past Fall I finally picked up another slightly used 3rd gen, a 1988 with just over 10,000 miles. T-top, 350, posi, 4 wheel disc, custom leather interior. Still has the original Good Year tires on it. Getting new shoes mounted this Thursday. Needless to say, I'm stoked.
Car sat in a barn un-covered with a wood floor since ~2004 (last registration sticker on the plate) My paint & body friend wet sanded it and detailed the motor. It's like a time capsule Just so many lines and stuff compared to my 1st Gen Picked up this 1$ used cozy coupe. tore it apart and painted it to match our new ride. Granddaughter gets a little surprise tomorrow
Thanks for the great site! Already used it to see how others fixed their exploded arm rests. Looks like the check engine light is staying on, so I need to dig into that. It's hits the road later this week for the first time since 2004.

Don't let 'em throw away your old shoes. Bag 'em and keep 'em, either for yourself or to sell them. Plenty of owners with multiple 3rdgen paperweights in their garages who would love to have them.

They will be coming back home with me in the truck. Tried to find a set of gold rims as nice as whats on the car to put the new tires on and run on the car, there by keeping the original tires and rims together, but could not find a decent set of rims.
