Dashboard of death?
I dont know if im the only one, but most of my friends call my dashboard the "dashboard of death" because of its vicious point. Has anyone got into an accident with there car that made the passenger hit there face on it? I want to know what kind of damage this things capable of.

I had a buddy get decapitated by the dash! his severed head, flew right through the windshield like a bowling ball! No Jk... I dont think it should be that big of an issue if Your passenger simply wears a seatbelt.

Unless you have something heavy that is not very securly attached to the dash, like a huge tachometer for example. then you have nothing to worry about as long as everyone wears their seatbelts.

Dude. Have you seen what most thirdgen dash pads look like? In the event of an accident, your dash would probably just end up with a huge chunk missing, roughly in the shape of your passenger's forehead. Your passenger would at most have crusty dash-dust and bits of disintegrated vinyl in his eyes, which would be uncomfortable, but less so than a kick to the face with an airbag. Tell your friends that the dash is more afraid of them than they are of it.

Yeah, thats what I was pretty much thinking. Its just funny how many people get in my car and make a comment about the dashboard being dangerous. Most of the time they have more paranoia than usual due to well um, a natural cause.
Does anyone else ever have anyone make a comment about their dashboard? Or am I the only one.

You tell your friends, that there is a big *** V8 (something they havent seen before) infront of you like a freaking tank. Most of the time I worry about hurting other people, not me or my passangers.

most cars now days are built around safety features, and the dash is part of it... they dont look good, i dont care what anyone says, and I laugh when i see a big bubbly 4thgen dash in a sharp 3rdgen
yes a 3rd gen dash will undoubtably do damage to someones face, theres probably not so many people you can ask.. either they were buckled up and hopefully didnt do a face plant, or werent buckled up and dead
doesnt matter what car your in, make sure your passenger has there seat belt on.. the passenger is always the one who bites it in an accident

The third gen dash has earned the nic name "suicide dash" locally. I think it would be the least of your worries, if you flew foward hard enough to hurt yourself on the dash I imagine the windshield would do just as much if not more damage.
Ill take a face plant into a thirdgen dash, over a 58 impala any day.
Im pretty sure the term "suicide dash" was from stories of people being decapitated when the metal glove box would open upon impact in old cars, hence allowing the passengers head and neck to make contact with it. I think this is just an urban legend, but you never know.

Yeah, I definently would hate to be in an accident involving me being in the passenger seat of a third gen. I guess we all can be thankfull that we own third gens, and not have to ride shotgun in them
